Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training is a plus.
  • 1-2 years material handling experience preferred; willing to train the right candidate.
  • Forklift certification and material handling equipment experience preferred; in-house training available.
  • Proficient computer/data entry skills; ERP experience highly preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret production schedules, blueprints, and technical documents.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills; follow work instructions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; collaborative team player.
  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs infrequently.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, tag, and transfer raw material to designated warehouse storage racks.
  • Report discrepancies to the purchasing team.
  • Maintain ERP inventory records of receipts and movements.
  • Operate forklift, crane, hoist, and hand truck as needed (~5% of shift).
  • Load and unload the scrap truck.
  • Filter recycled oil and operate the still.
  • Keep storage area clean and organized; remove empty containers.
  • Receive incoming bar stock deliveries using a forklift.
  • Review production schedules for material requirements.
  • Inspect bar stock for defects before loading into machines.
  • Prepare material for loading in bar feeders.
  • Transport and load bar stock into machines; ensure alignment per specs.
  • Collaborate with machine operators to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain clear communication with team and supervisors.
  • Provide timely updates on material availability and issues.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Rotate for chip spinning process to support recycling; perform other duties as assigned.

Description

In the Material Handler role, you will play a crucial part in the manufacturing process by efficiently receiving incoming bar stock, loading machines, and managing chip removal operations throughout the shift. This individual should have a strong work ethic, be proficient with computers, and be able to work independently and efficiently.


Hours

9:00am - 5:30pm or 10:00am - 6:30pm based on candidates preference.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Material Handling:



  • Inspect, tag, and transfer raw material to designated warehouse storage racks.

  • Collaborate with the purchasing team to report any discrepancies or issues with incoming materials.

  • Maintain accurate inventory records of raw materials by recording all material receipts and movements in the ERP system.

  • Operate forklift, hand-operated crane, hoist, and hand truck as needed (only ~5% of shift)

  • Load and unload the scrap truck.

  • Filter recycled oil and operate the still.

  • Maintain a clean and organized storage area by removing empty storage containers from racks, sweeping and mopping as necessary.

  • Receive incoming bar stock deliveries using a forklift.


Machine Loading:



  • Review production schedules to determine material requirements for upcoming jobs.

  • Inspect bar stock for any defects or irregularities before loading into machines.

  • Prep material for loading in bar feeders.

  • Transport and load bar stock into machines for machine operators.

  • Ensure proper alignment and positioning of materials to meet machine specifications.

  • Collaborate with machine operators to optimize workflow and minimize downtime.


Communication:



  • Maintain clear and open communication with team members, supervisors, and other departments.

  • Provide timely updates on material availability or any other issues that may impact production.

  • Examine processes and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.


Additional Support Responsibilities:



  • Serve as part of a rotation for the chip spinning process, supporting the need to ensure efficient recycling and processing of material waste.

  • All other duties as assigned.


Requirements

Skills & Qualifications:



  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical or vocational training is a plus.

  • 1-2 years of proven experience in a material handling role is desired, but willing to train the right individual. Previous experience in a machine shop environment is a plus.

  • Forklift certification and experience operating material handling equipment is desired, but we train in house.

  • Proficient computer and data entry skills (ERP system experience highly preferred).

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to follow work instructions.

  • Ability to read and interpret production schedules, blueprints, and technical documents.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • A positive attitude and exceptional aptitude for growing your skills.

  • Effective decision making and problem-solving skills with a drive for results. Ability to prioritize time-sensitive projects/tasks.

  • A collaborative mindset that focuses on teamwork.


Physical/Environmental Demands:


  • Lifting requirements: 100 lbs. (infrequently), 50 lbs. (occasionally), 25 lbs. or less (frequently)

  • Maintain physical condition necessary for the following: frequent lifting, carrying, standing, and walking throughout the entire shift; climbing rolling stairs occasionally; crouching, stooping, squatting, & twisting upper body.

  • Vision requirements: Must have vision corrected to 20/20 for close, distance, & peripheral vision with depth perception.
