Job Description

Position Purpose: Responsible for performing a variety of routine hazardous and non-hazardous waste tasks involving the movement of solids and liquids. Under direct supervision, tasks may include manual labor in cleaning, decontamination, vacuum projects, handling, packing, re-packing, unloading, and loading containers for processing or transportation.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

1. Load and unload various container sizes (totes, drums, tankers, trailers, etc.)
2. Construct boxes and fiber containers, label, and load containers.
3. Use tools such as impact wrenches, shovels, jackhammers, etc.
4. Transport hazardous waste materials within the facility as directed.
5. Decontaminate and dispose of drums/containers per RCRA and disposal guidelines.
6. Complete paperwork for processing and transportation of materials.
7. Perform general housekeeping duties.
8. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
9. Inspect material handling equipment as directed.
10. Assist in loading/unloading waste materials using appropriate equipment.
11. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education / Experience / Background:

• High School diploma or GED
• 3 to 6 months of prior work experience in hazardous waste or chemical industry preferred, with proficiency in handling forklifts and tools

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

• Ability to read and write effectively
• Trained in material handling equipment use

Required Certifications / Licenses / Training:

• 40-Hour HAZWOPER training preferred

Additional Information

Pay Range: $23 - $25 per hour

Benefits: Comprehensive benefits including paid time off, health, dental, vision insurance, and 401(k). Union employees' pay and benefits are outlined in collective bargaining agreements.

Sick leave: 56 hours; Holidays: 11 days; Vacation: 15 days

Eligible for up to 4% annual performance bonus
