Job summary

Dawn Foods in Denver, CO is seeking a Material Handler to support warehouse and production by unloading, stocking, and scanning ingredients. You will ensure correct labeling and allergen storage, maintain organized areas, and perform inventory tasks with a focus on accuracy and safety.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 1 year of experience in warehouse, distribution, or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Forklift certification required or willingness to become certified.
  • Must have basic computer skills and ability to use a scanner.

Responsibilities

  • Operate forklift, pallet jack, and other equipment to move raw materials.
  • Organize and maintain warehouse and production areas for proper storage, including allergen storage.
  • Ensure proper labeling of ingredient bags and accurate material scanning.
  • Coordinate with receiving warehouse to obtain raw material lists for each line.
  • Perform cycle counts under supervision of Inventory Control Coordinator.
  • Follow GMP, food safety, and industry standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Shift Schedule: Monday- Friday 4:25 PM to 4:35 AM; overtime may be required on weekends based on business needs.

Job Purpose and Overview

As a Material Handler, you will perform line replenishing duties which consist of unloading the freight elevator, stocking lines with ingredients, and storing unused ingredients in proper areas in the warehouse. You will ensure the proper scanning of each ingredient is performed.

What Does It Take to be a Material Handler at Dawn Foods?

Below are the minimum qualifications to be a fit for this job

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
  • 1 year of experience in a warehouse, distribution, or manufacturing environment preferred
  • 6 months of forklift experience required; 1-2 years of experience preferred
  • Must be forklift certified or willing to become certified
  • Requires oral, written, and communication skills
  • Ability to speak and understand English
  • Must be able to handle many diversified tasks at one time and correctly prioritize time
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Basic computer skills
What Will You Do as a Material Handlerat Dawn Foods?
  • Operate forklift, pallet jack, and fast jack to move raw materials physically from elevator to lines/storage and electronically using scanner
  • Organize and maintain designated warehouse and production areas for proper ingredient storage in assigned area, including allergen storage
  • Ensure open and/or ripped ingredient bags are labeled appropriately
  • Proper scanning of raw materials to locations, including adjusting inventory to skids when brought to the line and put away
  • Communicates with receiving warehouse in person or via radio on low-level inventories, to obtain raw material list for each line and serves as general liaison between the receiving warehouse and line operators
  • Performs cycle counting under the direction of the Inventory Control Coordinator
  • Follows company Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards
  • Adheres to GMP, Food Safety, International Food Standards (IFS), and American Institute of Baking (AIB) standards
  • Adheres to the Food Defense and Security functions within the facility
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Temperature fluctuates with the season - colder during the winter/warmer during the summer
  • Working around heavy machinery - hearing protection required in production area
