Job Summary: Moves materials within the plant or work site and performs administrative transactions within their responsibility level by performing the following duties.
Job Duties
- Reads work orders and/or follows oral instructions to determine materials required to be moved or retrieved to fill requirements.
- Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves.
- Conveys material from storage or work sites to designated areas.
- Operates industrial trucks, roll lifters, electric hoists, hand trucks, or dollies to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
- Performs cycle count requests.
- Keeps supply shelves clean, organized, and stocked with packaging materials and supplies needed for production.
- Maintains solvent supply, mixes solvents used in production, and transports them to the production room.
- Supplies materials from line side market per production withdrawal Kanban card request efficiently.
- Breaks down parts from vendors per standard work board and/or supplier Kanban cards.
- Fills line side markets per containerized KanBan cards.
- Ensures proper routing and placement of all Kanban cards.
- Performs and signs off on daily periodic tasks as outlined on the periodic task list.
- Handles all aspects of work orders, including pulling, staging, issuing, back orders, returns, and discrepancies.
- Responsible for the safekeeping of all pick sheets and the accuracy of recorded information.
- Supplies materials from staged job locations timely and efficiently.
- Returns unused parts to correct warehouse locations and verifies no material remains in staged areas after job completion.
- Counts, weighs, and records units of materials as per procedure.
- Attaches labels or marks information on containers as required.
- Maintains transaction records for all material moves and manages material management files.
- Participates in label control activities.
- Wraps completed products as necessary, using banding, shrink wrap, or pallet wrappers.
- Ensures cleanliness of the packaging area and general housekeeping of the work area and warehouse.
- Acts as backup for the packer and other material handlers as needed.
- Trains new staff in tasks and troubleshooting.
- Cross-trains with water beetles as necessary.
- May need to cover another shift temporarily based on operational needs.
Level 3 Material Handlers must be skilled in all tasks and troubleshooting for training purposes.
Additional Responsibilities
- Monitor daily material needs for replenishment.
- Communicate with Team Lead/Manager regarding issues and changes.
Safety Responsibilities
- Follow safety rules and promote safety awareness.
- Report hazards, injuries, or losses immediately.
- Wear appropriate protective equipment and operate machinery safely.
Qualifications and Skills
- Valid driver's license and certification for warehouse equipment operation.
- Computer literacy, especially with Microsoft Office and manufacturing documentation.
- Knowledge of inventory systems, SOPs, and ISO standards is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly stand, walk, handle, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Lift/move up to 10 pounds regularly, up to 35 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally with team or mechanical aid.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED.
- Three months of related experience or training, or equivalent.
