Job summary

Hyson in Brecksville, OH is seeking a Material Handler to move materials safely and efficiently from receiving to outbound shipment. You will use forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment, replenish lines, stage finished goods, and help keep inventory accurate.

The role requires attention to detail, safety, and teamwork in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. Training opportunities and growth within a precision components operation are available.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial materials handling environment.
  • Valid forklift certification or demonstrated ability to become certified within 30 days (training provided).
  • Experience using mechanical power tools and operating powered industrial vehicles, including counterbalance forklifts and pallet jacks.
  • Ability to read packing slips and work orders with strong attention to detail.
  • Basic math skills for counting, verifying, and recording quantities.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs and perform physical tasks including standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
  • Strong safety awareness and commitment to following safe work practices.
  • Experience in a precision manufacturing or machined components environment.
  • Familiarity with ERP or inventory management systems.
  • Experience with cycle counting and physical inventory processes preferred.
  • Familiarity with 5S principles and Lean Manufacturing practices a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Receive shipments and verify accuracy against purchase orders and packing slips; inspect for damage or discrepancies.
  • Transport raw materials, WIP, and finished goods using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other powered industrial vehicles.
  • Replenish production lines and work cells with correct materials and quantities.
  • Stage and load finished goods for outbound shipment; verify orders for completeness and accuracy.
  • Maintain organized and properly labeled storage areas; ensure safe storage locations.
  • Conduct cycle counts and assist with physical inventory; report discrepancies.
  • Complete required documentation and system transactions, including receiving records and move tickets.
  • Operate material handling equipment safely and in accordance with OSHA regulations.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area and adhere to 5S standards.
  • Notify supervisor of shortages, quality concerns, or equipment issues.
  • Follow all safety policies and wear required PPE; participate in safety programs.
  • Adhere to the company Code of Ethics.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job description

The Material Handler is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of materials throughout Hyson’s Brecksville facility ‑ from receiving and inspection through floor replenishment and outbound shipment. This role is critical to keeping production running smoothly and requires a strong commitment to accuracy, safety, and teamwork.

Core Responsibilities
  • Receive incoming shipments; verify accuracy against purchase orders and packing slips; inspect materials for damage or discrepancies and communicate findings promptly.
  • Transport raw materials, WIP, and finished goods throughout the facility using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other powered industrial vehicles.
  • Replenish production lines and work cells with the correct materials and quantities to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
  • Stage and load finished goods for outbound shipment; verify orders for completeness and accuracy prior to departure.
  • Maintain organized and properly labeled storage areas; ensure materials are stored safely and in designated locations.
  • Conduct cycle counts and assist with physical inventory as required; report and resolve inventory discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Complete required documentation and system transactions accurately, including receiving records, move tickets, and inventory adjustments.
  • Operate all material handling equipment safely and in accordance with company procedures and OSHA regulations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area; adhere to 5S standards.
  • Notify supervisor of material shortages, quality concerns, or equipment issues.
  • Follow all company safety policies, wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), and participate in safety programs.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Experience working in a precision manufacturing or machined components environment.
  • Familiarity with ERP or inventory management systems (data entry and basic transaction processing) preferred.
  • Experience processing electronic shipments (i.e. UPS, DHL Express, FedEx), knowledge of export documentation process, and/or HazMat and/or Lift truck certified, preferred.
  • Experience with cycle counting and physical inventory processes preferred.
  • Familiarity with 5S principles and Lean Manufacturing practices a plus.
Education Requirements and Preferences
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Additional coursework or certification in logistics, supply chain, or warehousing is a plus but not required.
