Job summary

Xylem is seeking a Material Handler in Bolingbrook, IL to serve as the backbone of our shop and warehouse operations, ensuring materials flow efficiently, inventory accuracy, and a safe, organized workspace.

You will receive and inspect deliveries, verify against purchase orders, manage inventory, support service teams, and assist with shop cleanliness, equipment logs, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• 1+ years of warehouse, material handling, shipping/receiving, or related experience.
• Experience operating forklifts and other material handling equipment.
• Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, email, and data entry.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Basic math skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Receive, inspect, and process incoming deliveries from carriers.
• Verify shipments against purchase orders and packing slips, ensuring accuracy.
• Organize, store, and distribute incoming materials to appropriate locations.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and support cycle counts, audits, and inventory control initiatives.
• Manage tank inventory levels, coordinate replenishment orders, and oversee delivery scheduling.
• Assist in ordering parts and materials needed to support service and operational teams.
• Take ownership of overall shop and warehouse organization, cleanliness, and efficiency.
• Maintain inspection records and operational logs for forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
• Submit water samples and support operational compliance activities as required.
• Partner with Materials Specialists and Service Managers to ensure materials are available when needed.
• Assist with special projects and operational needs across the facility.
