Overview
The Material Handler assists in the day-to-day operations of receiving, shipping, and inventory data entry for Dean/Fluor and government-procured materials and equipment. The Material Handler works under the direct supervision of the Warehouse Supervisor. This position supports a government warehouse located in Bluffdale, UT. The Material Handler is responsible for utilizing knowledge of operations, maintenance, and repair industry tools and materials to perform logistics tasks such as receiving, inventorying, storing, and issuing materials, equipment, and other items from the Dean/Fluor warehouse and suppliers. The role requires a solid understanding of Dean/Fluor logistics processes and procedures, attention to detail in following logistics protocols, record-keeping, inventory management, order placement, material picking for internal distribution, monitoring inventory levels, communicating shortages, and providing feedback for process improvements.
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED with proven experience as a Material Handler, Warehouse Associate, or similar role, with 1-3 years of logistics experience.
- Completion of all safety training courses provided by the company.
- Physical capability to lift packages weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods and deliver materials or tools to site locations as needed.
- Check incoming deliveries for quality standards and perform accurate inventory and recording of items.
- Pass a USG federal background investigation and drug test. The candidate must pass an extensive US government background check with no felony convictions and be eligible for a security clearance.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean record and ability to meet Dean/Fluor driving requirements.
- Experience in operating forklifts and pallet jacks safely is a plus.
- Basic computer skills including Word, Excel, CMMS, etc.
- Organized and detail-oriented to maintain a clean and orderly warehouse.
- Strong communication skills.
Abilities:
- Lift at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for extended periods.
- Relocate a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.
- Work at heights up to 60 feet, climbing and maintaining balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and ladders.
- Perform physical activities such as walking, climbing, lifting, squatting, crawling, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and reaching overhead routinely.
- Good vision (corrected if necessary), color vision, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
- Use standard ladders within weight limits while carrying tools.
- Recognize when something is wrong or likely to go wrong; problem recognition without needing to solve the issue.
- Apply general rules to specific problems to produce logical solutions.
- Combine information to form general rules or conclusions, including recognizing relationships among seemingly unrelated events.
