Job summary

Gregory Industries, Inc. in Athens, AL is seeking a Material Handler to safely operate forklifts and keep production lines loaded with material and finished goods unloaded & staged.

The role involves unloading and inspecting raw materials, moving finished products with proper labeling, performing pre-shift inspections, following SOPs, inputting data into the computer, and maintaining a clean, safe workspace. Downtime duties include stacking and banding material as produced.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of forklift experience in a fast-paced production setting.
• Knowledge of safety practices and PPE usage.
• Ability to input data and follow SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklifts during routine duties.
• Unload, inspect, and stage raw materials, scrap dunnage, packaging materials, chemicals, and other supplies.
• Remove finished products from production areas with proper identification, banding, and labeling.
• Conduct daily pre-shift inspections and identify routine maintenance on equipment.
• Follow safety practices and SOPs as directed.
• Access, input, and retrieve information from the computer.
• Maintain housekeeping to prevent trip hazards.
• Support packaging processes (banders, stretch wrappers) as needed.
• Perform manual labor during downtime, including stacking and banding material.

Material Handler

Summary

Safely operate forklifts to keep production lines loaded with material and finished goods unloaded & staged.

Job Core Responsibilities

• Operate forklifts during routine performance of duties.
• Unload, receive, inspect, and stage raw materials, scrap dunnage, packaging materials, chemicals, and other supplies.
• Remove finished products from the production areas, ensuring proper identification, banding, and labeling to meet customer specifications.
• Conduct daily pre-shift inspection of and identifies routine preventative maintenance on assigned equipment.
• Comply with established job safety practices, policies and procedures, as specified in plant and corporate directives for the safe performance of the work assignment.
• Access, input, and retrieve information from the computer.
• Perform housekeeping duties to prevent trip hazards.
• Initiate, review and follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs) for your area of responsibility.
• The use of banders, stretch wrappers, and other packaging processes as required
• This position requires performing manual labor during down time. This includes stacking and banding material as it's produced.

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience driving forklifts in a fast-paced production setting

Please note that the hourly range information is only applicable to Ohio. Compensation is based on a variety of factors, candidate experience, qualifications, location, as well as market and business considerations. Pay Range: $21.94-$22.97
