Job summary

General Dynamics NASSCO seeks a Materials Analyst to assess current and projected material requirements for ship repair and modernization. You will review specifications and drawings, identify long-lead items, and collate materials by commodity to solicit competitive pricing from suppliers.

You will price non-bid materials for estimates, track risks, and report to the Supervisor of Repair Estimating Operations. Strong Excel and supplier liaison skills are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• High school graduate with two years of directly related Materials analysis experience.
• Knowledge of ship repair materials and shipboard nomenclature.
• Experience with shipboard systems, equipment, spaces, configuration, and material costs for repairs, upgrades, alterations and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Read, understand, and interpret requirements on specifications, drawings and technical references.
• Identify/recognize critical, cost driver and long lead time material components.
• Work with suppliers to solicit price and availability of materials.
• Collate materials by commodity for competitive pricing.
• Price all materials not competitively bid for estimates and bids.
• Notify supervisor of price, lead time or risk issues that could affect execution.
