Summary of Description

The planning and controlling of all necessary efforts to ensure equipment and materials are correctly specified, obtained at a competitive cost, stored in a safe and organized manner, available at the proper time to support the work schedule.

Duties
  • Expedite company-issued purchase orders to ensure delivery dates comply with construction schedule requirements through telephone calls and possibly vendor plant visits.
  • Determine materials that may be “long lead materials” (taking 6 weeks or longer for delivery and materials that may not meet the standard delivery requirements).
  • Maintain current status records on all purchase orders.
  • Compare bill of material to A/E drawings to determine receipt/non-receipt of item(s) onsite, identify new materials required when revisions are made and identify critical items.
  • Maintain equipment/materials/parts lists (i.e., valve or instrument lists) showing additions, deletions, receipt and issuance of items.
  • Interface with accounting and vendors to clarify invoice problems, prepare back charges, etc.
  • Coordinate requests to vendors to make field service calls, correct/resolve material and equipment defects and monitor status of warranty claims.
  • Interface with other departments (i.e., Pre-op, Scheduling, Material Control, Engineering) to disseminate material status and delivery information.
  • Perform other job-related duties, as assigned.
Education and Experience

High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED), with additional specialized training or college course work and at least six (6) years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Specific Skills
  • Basic understanding of engineering.
  • Basic understanding of drawings.
  • Basic understanding of accounting.
  • Basic understanding of invoice procedures.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders and scaffolding.
  • Ability to walk on even and uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to wear PPE including fire retardant clothing, hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, respirator.
  • Ability to walk up to one mile on industrial plant and construction sites outdoors at any time of the year.
  • Ability to work in protective clothing which may elevate body temperatures by several degrees Fahrenheit for periods of up to 15 minutes without a break.
  • Ability to use multi-level stair towers and rung ladders unassisted.
  • Ability to hear safety alarms and signals while wearing hearing protection.
  • Ability to sit at desk and operate computer for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and talk and hear.
  • Ability to see with visual acuity and distinguish between colors.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and have a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to lift and carry 15 lbs. on a regular basis is required and at times lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required.
