Job summary

Reliable Sprinkler Co. is seeking a Material Control Specialist to join the Distribution Center Operations team in Romeoville, IL.

This full-time role focuses on maintaining inventory accuracy and optimizing material flow to support on-time order fulfillment. You will supervise cycle counts, resolve discrepancies, manage MO/CO processes, evaluate returns, and collaborate with engineering, quality, and sales to improve tools and processes.

Qualifications

• Strong analytical, problem solving, and research skills.
• Demonstrated project management skills and ability to organize and prioritize tasks.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access); ASC-ES Warehouse Management (WMS) Experience and Infor M3 experience a plus.
• Inventory Management experience desired; Industrial Warehouse experience with forklift certification is helpful.
• High accuracy and attention to detail; self-motivated with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Inventory accuracy and cycle count supervision with corrective actions for discrepancies.
• Support physical inventory counts in local branches and stocking warehouses.
• Review and resolve zero-picks discrepancies between system and physical inventory.
• Responsible for Receiving Administration, OS&D confirmation and reporting.
• Review stocked-out items to redistribute inventory and reduce excess; support scrapping programs.
• Evaluate proposed returns for reasonableness and saleable condition.
• Assist Sales with inventory issue resolution and alternative fill strategies for urgent backorders.
• Review existing tools/processes for efficiency and develop new tools and processes.
• Review and release Manufacturing Orders for COs; manage DOs for BOM shortages; release MO for Build-to-Stock needs.

Material Control Specialist

Location: Romeoville, IL - Distribution Center

Compensation: $20.00 - $34.00 / hour

Description

Our company is searching for experienced candidates for the position of Material Control Specialist. You will contribute to the achievement of organizational goals by performing a variety of tasks supporting the distribution center.

How You Will Help:

• Inventory accuracy
  1. Cycle Count Supervision – oversee daily execution, report on progress, implement corrective actions for discrepancies.
  2. Support physical inventory counts in local branches, ASC-ES Manufacturer Representative Stocking Warehouses.
  3. Review and resolve “zero picks” discrepancies between the system inventory and the physical inventory found at time of order picking.
  4. Responsible for Receiving Administration, OS&D confirmation and reporting.
• Inventory optimization
  1. Review stocked-out items for opportunities to redistribute inventory to resolve the stock-out.
  2. Review excess inventory for opportunities to reduce or eliminate excess via inventory redistribution.
  3. Support excess and idle scrapping programs.
• Customer return evaluation
  1. Evaluate proposed returns for reasonableness, avoiding returns that create excess.
  2. Evaluate returned product for acceptableness (e.g., saleable condition)
• Special requests
  1. Manage inventory inspections as directed by the Engineering and Quality teams for quality concerns.
  2. Assist Sales with inventory issues resolution (e.g., identifying alternative ways to fill urgent backorders)
• Continuous improvement
  1. Review existing tools processes for efficiency and effectiveness.
  2. Develop new tools and processes.
• Manufacturing Orders (MO’s)
  1. Review and Release MO’s for Customer Orders (MO’s for CO’s)
  2. Issue DO’s for any MO Bill-of-Material Shortages.
  3. Review and Release MO’s for Build-to-Stock needs.
• Additional duties as the role evolves.
