BMW Manufacturing Co., LLC is seeking a Material Control Series Intern for Spring 2027 in Spartanburg, SC. You will engage in hands-on supply chain tasks and contribute to KPI development, data analytics, and digitalization initiatives.

The internship emphasizes real-world problem solving, collaboration with purchasing and logistics teams, and opportunities to influence continuous improvement in the materials flow.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or have completed a degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Candidate must have strong interpersonal and technical skills.
• Power BI, SQL, SAP basics and Microsoft Office skills required; Data Lake is a bonus.
• Independent and detail-oriented work style with strong organizational and communication abilities.
• Must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (not just in major).
• Enrolled student status at a US four-year college or university.
• Completed at least 30 credit hours at time of application.
• Ability to work full-time on-site (40 hours / week).
• Transfer students must have GPA from current university and must attach unofficial transcript.
• Complete and pass a substance abuse test before the work term.
• Work term dates are January 11th – May 14th, 2027.

Responsibilities

• Steer the internal Gemba process.
• Support the development of supplier Gemba together with purchasing department.
• Support VPS COC to create the VPS target picture.
• Support implementation and development of work organization structure.
• Development of department KPIs.
• Assist with obsolete cost tracking, E/E flashing status, emergency order tracking and analysis.
• Smart Container Management.
• KPI Dashboards, Data Analytics and Visualization.
• Continuous Improvement Projects.
• Digitalization Projects.
• Value Stream Mapping.
