Job description

Material Bonder B - 1st shift

Description

Work Performed:

  1. Performs routine or semi-routine operations required to prepare aircraft parts or articles for the material bonding process. Works from simple blueprints, drawings, or oral instructions to assemble, locate, and align parts in the correct position and sequence.
  2. Uses hand tools or powered equipment to clean, scrape, sand, or grind rotor blades or airfoil sections, including tasks like cleaning, applying treatment materials, removing excess adhesive, masking, taping, and preparing areas for filling. May dry chemically treated areas and remove protective materials, sanding or grinding to finish specifications. Checks documentation to ensure all operations are completed.
  3. Selects and mixes bonding agents and applies them per procedures. Performs minor rework, fitting, or trimming as needed.
  4. Prepares pressure bags and seals edges to prevent leaks, or uses pre-made bags.
  5. Utilizes production aids such as jigs, fixtures, and tools.
  6. May assist Material Bonder “A”.

Qualifications

Tools and Equipment Used: Hand tools, jigs, fixtures, clamps, templates, measuring instruments, safety gloves, bonding agents, portable grinding and sanding equipment, measuring devices, etc.

Experience and Requirements: Minimum of six months experience performing similar work or prior experience in relevant roles such as Aircraft Painter, Patternmaker, Upholsterer, or Aircraft Assembler. Alternatively, successful completion of the Advanced Composite Fabrication Course (T220) at Bell.

This position involves handling information subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Applicants must be eligible under ITAR definitions (U.S. Citizen, Green Card Holder, Asylee, or Refugee).
