Job summary

CFG Health Systems is seeking a MAT Nurse Practitioner at Curran Fromhold Correctional Facility to deliver MAT-focused medical and behavioral health care for incarcerated individuals with substance use disorders. The MAT NP will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, prescribe and monitor MAT regimens, and ensure high-quality, patient-centered care within a correctional setting.

The position requires an NP license, DEA/ CDS waivers, BLS, and experience in MAT and correctional health.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
• Active and unrestricted Advanced Practice Nurse license in the state of employment.
• Current DEA, CDS, and DEA-X waiver (DATA 2000) required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Two or more years of NP experience preferred.
• Experience in correctional healthcare, addiction treatment, or MAT strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform medical and behavioral health assessments and develop treatment plans for MAT patients.
• Prescribe and monitor MAT medications including buprenorphine, naltrexone, Sublocade, Brixadi, and Vivitrol.
• Conduct and document medical evaluations per NCCHC, ACA, PBNDS, and facility standards.
• Maintain HIPAA-compliant documentation and coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams.
• Educate patients about MAT, harm reduction, relapse prevention, and self-care.

JOB SUMMARYThe MAT Nurse Practitioner (MAT NP), at Curran Fromhold Correctional Facility, delivers high-quality, patient-centered care to incarcerated individuals with substance use disorders, with a specialized focus on Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT). This role combines advanced clinical responsibilities with addiction treatment expertise and is essential to improving health outcomes and continuity of care in the correctional setting. 1 year contract.The MAT NP works closely with a multidisciplinary team—including nursing, mental health, and security personnel—to assess, treat, and manage both general and addiction-related medical needs. This includes prescribing and monitoring MAT medications, performing physical and mental health evaluations, and coordinating comprehensive treatment plans for individuals with opioid use and other substance use disorders.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESPerform comprehensive medical and behavioral health assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, and provide ongoing care for patients enrolled in MAT programs.Prescribe and monitor MAT medications, including buprenorphine, naltrexone, Sublocade, Brixadi, and Vivitrol, in accordance with state and federal guidelines.Conduct and document medical evaluations in compliance with NCCHC, ACA, PBNDS, and facility-specific standards.Perform and interpret laboratory work including ordering labs, reviewing results, and following up appropriately.Manage care for both acute and chronic medical conditions, integrating substance use treatment into overall health care delivery.Collaborate with MAT nurses, mental health clinicians, and correctional staff to ensure patient safety, medication adherence, and continuity of care.Educate patients about MAT, medication safety, harm reduction, relapse prevention, and self-care strategies.Participate in grant-related MAT activities, including data entry, monitoring, and reporting in collaboration with the facility’s data team.Coordinate with external specialty clinics and community resources to support post-release continuity of care.Maintain complete, accurate, and timely documentation of care provided in accordance with HIPAA, facility policy, and professional standards.Participate in staff meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing education activities related to correctional health and MAT.QUALIFICATIONSEducation & Licensure:Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.Active and unrestricted Advanced Practice Nurse license in the state of employment.Current DEA, CDS, and DEA-X waiver (DATA 2000) required.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.Preferred Experience:At least two (2) years of Nurse Practitioner experience preferred.Experience in correctional healthcare, addiction treatment, behavioral health, or MAT strongly preferred.Skills & Competencies:Excellent clinical assessment, diagnostic, and treatment planning skills.Proficient in administering and monitoring MAT medications and managing withdrawal symptoms.Strong interpersonal, communication, and crisis management abilities.Able to function effectively within a secure environment and multidisciplinary team.Proficient in electronic medical record systems and basic computer applications (Word, Excel).Strong understanding of substance use disorders, harm reduction, and trauma-informed care.PHYSICAL & FUNCTIONAL DEMANDSMay be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays, or on-call shifts based on site needs.May be required to stand, sit, bend, lift up to 50 lbs., or walk for extended periods.Must maintain security clearance and pass all required screenings (health, background, etc.).ORGANIZATIONAL EXPECTATIONSUpholds CFG Health Systems’ mission, values, and standards of professionalism.Maintains strict compliance with infection control, safety, HIPAA, PREA, and ethical regulations.Participates in quality improvement activities and contributes to a culture of safety and respect.Provides a positive, respectful, and patient-centered approach in all interactions.Job_Number: 6278
