Job summary

YMCA of San Diego County is seeking a part-time Master Swim Coach to lead structured workouts for a diverse Masters program. You will coach stroke technique, endurance, and pacing while ensuring safety in the pool environment.

You will tailor sessions for fitness enthusiasts and elite competitors, provide real-time feedback, enforce rules, and communicate schedule updates. A strong commitment to inclusivity and healthy living is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 18 years.
• High School Diploma or equivalent; reading/writing ability for job performance.
• At least 4 years in competitive swimming or aquatic coaching.
• Current BLS for the Professional Rescuer from ARC/HA or ISH I.
• Must obtain Principles of Competitive Swimming and Diving within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and execute Masters swim workouts for diverse abilities.
• Provide real-time analysis and feedback on stroke mechanics.
• Enforce pool rules and respond to emergencies to ensure safety.
• Support program logistics and communicate schedule changes to participants.
• Inspect pool area and equipment; report maintenance needs.
• Oversee use and maintenance of swim gear and coordinate repairs.
• Represent the Masters swim program in interactions with participants.
• Other duties as assigned.
