Job summary

Qualifications

• USA Swim Coach credentials and lifeguard/safety training required.
• Ability to teach and supervise swimmers with a safety-first approach.
• Experience coordinating practice plans and meet logistics.

Responsibilities

• Coaches and instructs swimmers in accordance with YMCA guidelines, having prepared practices and workouts accordingly.
• Builds authentic relationships with swimmers and parents; encourages involvement and volunteers.
• Conveys information on the swim team, aquatics programs and schedules.
• Attends practices and swim meets as required.
• Maintains records (e.g., attendance, meet reports).
• Attends staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
• Follows YMCA policies and safety procedures; completes incident reports as necessary.
• Organizes and stores swim team equipment; reports damaged equipment.
• Trains and supervises Junior Swim Coaches as assigned.

We are hiring for Masters Swim Coaches for our Wells Ave location!

Hourly rate $16.00-$17.00, depending on experience, education and relative skill sets.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provides direct leadership, instruction, and motivation for swimmers on swim team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Coaches and instructs swimmers in accordance with YMCA guidelines, having prepared practices and workouts accordingly.


2. Builds effective, authentic relationships with swimmers and parents; helps them connect with each other and the YMCA. Encourage parent involvement and identifies potential volunteers.


3. Conveys information on the swim team, aquatics programs and schedules.


4. Attends practices and swim meets as required.


5. Maintains records as required (i.e. attendance, swim meet reports, etc.).


6. Attends staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.


7. Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.


8. Organizes and puts away needed swim team equipment. Reports damaged equipment.


9. Train and supervise Junior Swim Coaches as assigned, if necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Minimum age of 18.


2. Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid and Emergency Oxygen.


3. USA Swim Coach certifications.


4. Current Lifeguard Training Certification or Safety Training for Swim Coaches.


5. Knowledge of the competitive strokes and techniques, competitive swimming and general water safety.


6. Knowledgeable in Team Unify, Meet Manager, Team Manager


7. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Physical Demands:

1. Ability to instruct and observe participants in proper stroke technique.


2. Ability to lift equipment
