Job summary

Cooper Steel of Virginia is seeking a Welder to join our shop team. You will read blueprints, select welding methods, and weld components to meet quality standards.

Responsibilities include interpreting weld symbols, preparing parts, performing MIG and flux-core welds, inspecting results, and maintaining a safe work environment. Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs and work overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience in a similar role preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret weld symbols.
• Strong safety awareness and use of PPE.
• Good communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Interpret blueprints to identify weld symbols and requirements.
• Determine appropriate welding equipment or method (flux-core, MIG) based on job.
• Operate grinders and prepare parts for welding.
• Weld components using manual or semi-automatic equipment in various positions.
• Inspect welded surfaces for defects and ensure safety and quality standards.
