Job summary

Strohwig in Richfield, WI is seeking an experienced Journeyman Toolmaker to design, build and repair high-precision tooling for aerospace/defense components. You will interpret drawings, operate CNC and EDM equipment, and work with engineers and machinists to meet strict tolerances.

The role offers 1st & 2nd shift options, a competitive hourly wage of $42.00–$56.00 with a 15% premium on 2nd shift, and opportunities to mentor others while advancing technical skills.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of Toolmaker experience.
• Five or more years working with molds, dies, or precision tooling.
• Strong blueprint reading and machining skills.
• Experience operating manual machine tools and CNC equipment.
• Strong understanding of precision measurement and inspection.
• Experience with tool assembly, fitting, and troubleshooting.
• Ability to work independently while supporting team success.
• Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship.

Responsibilities

• Build, repair, modify, and optimize tooling, dies, molds, fixtures, and precision components.
• Interpret drawings, CAD models, and specs to meet requirements.
• Operate manual and CNC machines, EDM, grinders, and lathes.
• Assemble and adjust tooling components for precise tolerances.
• Inspect tooling with advanced measuring equipment for quality.
• Troubleshoot issues and drive improvements for reliability and tool life.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Programming, and Quality.
• Mentor junior Toolmaker staff and share best practices.
• Maintain documentation and support preventive maintenance.
