Summary of Position:

The primary function of this position is to oversee and provide design, installation, and continuous improvement of repairs, modifications, and preventive maintenance on molding tools in a plastic injection molding environment, as instructed by the Tooling Manager. The role also includes training and developing Toolmakers.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Oversee all training of Toolmakers/Apprentices, including task assignment and feedback.
2. Assign work and set priorities for Toolmakers.
3. Coordinate with Material Planners for preventative maintenance and repair schedules.
4. Perform tear downs of molds, including cleaning, inspecting, replacing parts, greasing, and reassembling.
5. Perform flash repairs, including advanced welding of parting lines and spotting.
6. Maintain manifolds, hot runners, and valve gates, replacing worn parts and rewiring as needed.
7. Use machinery such as lathe, mill, boring mill, and surface grinder for tool repairs.
8. Troubleshoot manifold issues and perform press calls to diagnose tool problems.
9. Make engineering changes or repairs using TIG welding and pneumatic tools.
10. Maintain parts inventory for common replacements.
11. Troubleshoot pneumatic and hydraulic issues.
12. Adjust timing of lifters, manifolds, and other details requiring precise fitting.
13. Maintain daily logs and Tooling request forms.
14. Log receipts and shipments of mold tooling.
15. Participate in continuous improvement processes.
16. Perform additional functions related to workflow efficiency.
