Position Summary


The Master Technician is responsible for diagnosing drivability, air conditioning, and electrical systems, utilizing leadership and mentoring skills to guide a team towards increased customer satisfaction. The role involves direct customer interaction, providing education on vehicle issues and solutions.


Duties & Responsibilities


  • Diagnose and repair according to specifications — brake and hydraulic, exhaust, fuel ignition and electrical, suspension and alignment, air conditioning, and computer systems.
  • Perform duties of all lower-level technician roles (Technician A, Technician B, Mechanic, General Service Technician).
  • Explain technical diagnoses and repairs to customers and staff in an understandable manner.
  • Continuously update technical knowledge through formal training to keep pace with automotive technology advancements.
  • Assist colleagues in technical activities.
  • Report mechanical issues to management promptly.
  • Maintain a clean and organized shop environment.
  • Follow all company policies, safety, and environmental regulations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


As a shop leader, you are expected to set the pace and foster a team-oriented environment. The following qualifications are essential:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 5 years of automotive diagnosis, problem-solving, and repair experience.
  • 8 or more ASE certifications (A1 through A8) are preferred.
  • Section 609 Certification required.
  • State Inspection license if applicable.
  • Motivated, energetic, and customer-focused.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Pre-employment drug screening required.
  • Availability for flexible working hours, including days, nights, holidays, and weekends.

The work involves standing, walking, reaching, bending, and repetitive hand/arm/leg movements, with the ability to lift over 50 pounds, work outdoors, and tolerate various weather conditions and exposure to chemicals and dust.
