GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Master Stylist engages with guests, consulting on hair care needs and recommending products and services. They deliver quality professional services focusing on the guest’s overall look, supporting the Experience Manager and Assistant Services Manager through performance, people, and process. A passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and product knowledge are essential.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Master Stylist embodies Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values, performing duties including:

Performance

• Perform hair design, cuts, color, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing (where applicable).
• Achieve or surpass a weekly sales goal of $1250 through exceptional service and contribute to store sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrink goals.
• Conduct product demonstrations to enhance sales and guest experience.
• Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives.
• Stay informed on industry trends, products, and services to better serve guests.
• Maintain regular and prompt attendance.

People

• Build guest relationships through consultations and tailored recommendations.
• Serve all guests efficiently, including walk-ins.
• Collaborate with skin therapists and retail teams for a comprehensive guest experience.
• Establish professional relationships with peers and brand partners.
• Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
• Attend mandatory training and meetings for professional development.

Process

• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols, adhering to state guidelines.
• Follow established service protocols for consistency and excellence.
• Use booking and client management systems effectively.
• Communicate supply needs to the Experience Manager.
• Maintain cleanliness and operational standards of the store.
• Adhere to the dress code.
• Follow loss prevention practices and provide exceptional service.
• Perform other operational tasks as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Cosmetology license

Experience: Relevant work experience required

Skills:

• Proficiency in latest salon techniques across all service categories.
• Ability to operate salon equipment and chemicals safely.
• Skill in demonstrating, recommending, and selling hair care and makeup products.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Mobility and physical stamina, including lifting up to 10 lbs, standing for long periods, and performing physical tasks.
