GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Master Stylist engages with guests, consulting on hair care needs, recommending products and services, and delivering high-quality professional services focused on the guest’s overall look. They support the Experience Manager and Assistant Services Manager by focusing on performance, guest service, and adherence to operating procedures and standards. A passion for the beauty industry, excellent guest service, and a willingness to learn and communicate product knowledge are essential.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Master Stylist champions Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values by performing the following duties and other assigned tasks:

Performance

• Perform various hair services including design, cuts, color, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing (where applicable).
• Achieve or surpass an average weekly sales goal of $1250 and meet productivity targets for hair services by providing exceptional guest experiences and contributing to retail and service sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrinkage goals.
• Conduct product demonstrations to enhance sales and guest experience.
• Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives to deliver outstanding guest experiences.
• Stay informed about industry trends, products, and services, and communicate their benefits effectively to guests.
• Maintain consistent attendance.

People

• Build guest relationships through consultations and tailored recommendations.
• Serve all guests efficiently, including walk-ins.
• Collaborate with skin therapists and retail teams for a comprehensive guest experience.
• Establish professional relationships with peers and brand partners to ensure exceptional service.
• Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
• Attend mandatory training and meetings for ongoing professional development.

Process

• Ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols, adhering to state guidelines.
• Follow established service protocols for a consistent guest experience.
• Use booking and client management systems effectively.
• Communicate supply needs to ensure guest readiness.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and store operations.
• Adhere to the dress code and protect company assets.
• Perform other operational tasks as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Cosmetology license

Experience: Previous relevant work experience required

Skills: Proficiency in the latest salon techniques, equipment, and chemicals; ability to recommend and sell products; strong communication skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team; ability to build and maintain client relationships.

SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Continuous mobility, lifting up to 10 lbs., bending, reaching, twisting, standing for long periods, and manipulating objects.

The pay range for this position is $15.50 - $17.80/hour or service pay, based on various factors.
