GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE
The Master Stylist engages with guests, consulting on hair care needs, recommending products and services, and delivering quality professional services focused on the guest’s overall look. They support the Experience Manager (SM) and Assistant Services Manager (ASM) by emphasizing performance, guest service, and adherence to operating procedures and standards. Passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and product knowledge are essential.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Master Stylist embodies Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values, performing duties including:
Performance
- Perform hair services such as design, cuts, color, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing (where applicable).
- Achieve or surpass a weekly sales goal of $1250 through excellent guest service and contribute to retail and service sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrink goals.
- Conduct product demonstrations to enhance sales and guest experience.
- Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing efforts to deliver exceptional guest experiences.
- Stay informed on industry trends, products, and services, understanding their ingredients and benefits.
- Maintain consistent attendance.
People
- Develop strong guest relationships through consultations and tailored recommendations.
- Serve all guests efficiently, including walk-ins.
- Collaborate with skin therapists and retail teams for a comprehensive guest experience.
- Build professional relationships with peers and brand partners to enhance guest service.
- Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
- Attend mandatory training and meetings for professional development.
Process
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
- Follow safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols, adhering to state guidelines.
- Follow established service protocols for consistency and quality.
- Use booking systems to schedule return services and events.
- Communicate supply needs to the Experience Manager to ensure guest readiness.
- Maintain cleanliness and operational standards of the salon and store areas.
- Adhere to the dress code.
- Follow loss prevention practices to protect company assets and provide excellent service.
- Perform other operational tasks as assigned.

Experience
- Relevant work experience required
Skills
- Proficiency in latest salon techniques across all service categories and ability to develop skills further.
- Proficiency with salon equipment and chemicals.
- Ability to demonstrate, recommend, and sell professional hair care and makeup products.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Capability to build and maintain strong customer relationships and clientele.
SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Mobility, lifting up to 10 lbs, bending, reaching, twisting, and standing for long periods.
