GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE
The Master Stylist engages with guests, consulting on hair care needs and recommending products and services. They deliver quality professional services focusing on the guest’s total look. They support the Experience Manager (SM) and Assistant Services Manager (ASM) through performance, people, and process management. A passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and product knowledge are essential.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (*Essential Functions)
The Master Stylist demonstrates Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values through:
Performance
- Perform hair services such as design, cuts, color, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing (where applicable).
- Achieve or surpass a weekly sales goal of $1250 and meet productivity targets for hair services, contributing to retail and service sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrink reduction.
- Conduct product demonstrations to enhance sales and guest experience.
- Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives.
- Stay informed on industry trends, products, and services to better serve guests.
- Maintain consistent attendance.
People
- Build guest relationships through consultations and tailored recommendations.
- Serve all guests promptly and efficiently, including walk-ins.
- Collaborate with skin therapists and retail teams for a comprehensive guest experience.
- Foster professional relationships with peers and brand partners.
- Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
- Attend trainings and meetings for professional development.
Process
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
- Follow safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures, adhering to state guidelines.
- Follow established service protocols for consistency and excellence.
- Use booking and client management systems effectively.
- Communicate supply needs to the Experience Manager.
- Maintain store cleanliness and operational standards.

- Relevant prior work experience required

- Proficiency in latest salon techniques and ability to develop skills in all service categories.
- Proficiency with equipment and chemicals used in technical work.
- Ability to demonstrate, recommend, and sell professional hair care and makeup products.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships and clientele.

- Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
WORKING CONDITIONS
