GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Master Stylist engages with guests, consulting on their hair care needs and recommending products and services. They deliver quality services focused on the guest’s total look, supporting the Experience Manager and Assistant Services Manager through performance, people, and process excellence. A passion for beauty, exceptional guest service, and product knowledge are essential.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Master Stylist embodies Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values through the following duties:

Performance

• Perform hair services including design, cuts, color, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing (where applicable).
• Achieve or surpass a weekly sales goal of $1250 and meet productivity targets by delivering exceptional guest service and contributing to store sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrink goals.
• Conduct product demonstrations to enhance sales and guest experience.
• Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives to elevate guest experience.
• Stay informed on industry trends, products, and services, and communicate their benefits effectively.
• Maintain consistent attendance.

People

• Build guest relationships through consultations and tailored recommendations.
• Serve all guests efficiently, including walk-ins.
• Collaborate with skin therapists and retail teams for comprehensive guest service.
• Establish professional relationships with peers and brand partners.
• Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
• Attend mandatory trainings and meetings for ongoing professional development.

Process

• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols, adhering to state guidelines.
• Follow established service protocols for consistency and quality.
• Use booking systems to schedule and manage guest appointments.
• Communicate supply needs to ensure guest readiness.
• Maintain cleanliness and operational standards throughout the store.
• Adhere to the dress code and loss prevention practices.
• Perform other operational tasks as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Cosmetology license.

Experience: Previous relevant work experience required.

Skills: Proficiency in salon techniques, equipment, and product sales; strong communication skills; ability to work independently and in teams; ability to develop and maintain client relationships.

SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Mobility, lifting up to 10 lbs, bending, reaching, twisting, and standing for long periods.
