GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Master Stylist engages with guests, consulting on their hair care needs and recommending products and services. They deliver quality professional services focused on the guest’s total look and support the Experience Manager and Assistant Services Manager through performance, people, and process focus. A passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and product knowledge are essential.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Master Stylist champions Ulta Beauty’s mission, demonstrating our values through the following duties and responsibilities:

Performance

• Perform hair services including design, cuts, color, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing (if applicable).
• Achieve or surpass a weekly sales goal of $1250 and meet productivity targets through excellent guest service and sales efforts.
• Conduct product demonstrations to enhance sales and guest experience.
• Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives to provide an outstanding guest experience.
• Stay informed on industry trends, products, and services, and communicate their benefits to guests.
• Maintain prompt and regular attendance.

People

• Build guest relationships through consultations and tailored recommendations.
• Serve all guests efficiently, including walk-ins.
• Collaborate with skin therapists and retail teams for a comprehensive guest experience.
• Develop professional relationships with peers and brand partners to deliver exceptional service.
• Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
• Attend mandatory trainings and meetings for ongoing professional development.

Process

• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures, adhering to state guidelines.
• Follow established service protocols for consistency and excellence.
• Use booking and client management systems effectively.
• Communicate supply needs to the Experience Manager.
• Maintain cleanliness and operational standards within the store.
• Adhere to the dress code and loss prevention practices.
• Perform other operational tasks as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• Cosmetology license required.

Experience

• Relevant work experience is required.

Skills

• Proficiency in salon techniques across services and ability to develop skills further.
• Knowledge of equipment and chemicals used in technical work.
• Ability to demonstrate and sell hair care and makeup products.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Capability to build and maintain client relationships.

WORKING CONDITIONS
