GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE
The Master Stylist engages with guests, consulting on their hair care needs, and recommending products and services. They deliver high-quality professional services focusing on the guest’s overall look, support the Experience Manager (SM) and Assistant Services Manager (ASM) through performance, people, and process, and possess a passion for the beauty industry, guest service, and product knowledge.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Master Stylist embodies Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values through the following duties and responsibilities:
Performance
- Perform various hair services, including design, cuts, color, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing (where applicable).
- Meet or exceed a weekly sales goal of $1250 and productivity targets for hair services, contributing to store sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrink goals.
- Conduct product demonstrations to enhance sales and guest experience.
- Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives to deliver exceptional guest experiences.
- Stay informed on industry trends, products, and services to better serve guests.
- Maintain consistent attendance.
People
- Build guest relationships through consultations and tailored recommendations.
- Serve all guests efficiently, including walk-ins.
- Collaborate with skin therapists and retail teams for a comprehensive guest experience.
- Develop professional relationships with peers and brand partners.
- Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
- Attend mandatory trainings and meetings for professional development.
Process
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
- Follow safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols, adhering to state guidelines.
- Follow established service protocols for a consistent guest experience.
- Use booking and client management systems for appointments and events.
- Communicate supply needs to the Experience Manager.
- Maintain cleanliness and operational standards within the store.
- Adhere to the dress code.
- Follow loss prevention practices and deliver excellent guest service.
- Perform other operational tasks as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Cosmetology license required.
Experience
- Relevant work experience required.
Skills
- Proficiency in latest salon techniques across all service categories and ability to develop skills further.
- Proficiency with salon equipment and chemicals.
- Ability to demonstrate, recommend, and sell hair care and makeup products.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to build and maintain client relationships.
