GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Master Stylist engages with guests, consulting on hair care needs and recommending products and services. They deliver quality professional services focusing on the guest’s total look, supporting the Experience Manager and Assistant Services Manager through performance, people, and process. A passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and a willingness to learn and communicate product knowledge are essential.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Master Stylist champions Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values, performing duties including:

Performance

• Performing hair services such as design, cuts, color, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing (if applicable).
• Achieving or exceeding a weekly sales goal of $1250 through excellent guest service and contributing to retail and service sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrink goals.
• Demonstrating products to drive sales and enhance guest experience.
• Supporting in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives.
• Staying informed about industry trends, products, and services to better serve guests.
• Maintaining regular, punctual attendance.

People

• Building guest relationships through consultations and tailored recommendations.
• Serving all guests promptly and efficiently.
• Collaborating with skin therapists and retail teams for a comprehensive guest experience.
• Fostering professional relationships with peers and brand partners.
• Promoting the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
• Attending mandatory training and meetings for ongoing professional development.

Process

• Ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
• Following safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols in accordance with state guidelines.
• Adhering to service protocols for consistent guest experiences.
• Using booking and client management systems effectively.
• Communicating supply needs to the Experience Manager.
• Maintaining cleanliness and operational standards in the store.
• Following the dress code and loss prevention practices.
• Performing other operational tasks as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Cosmetology license

Experience: Prior relevant work experience required

Skills:

• Proficiency in latest salon techniques across all service categories and ability to develop skills as needed.
• Knowledge of equipment and chemicals used in technical services.
• Ability to demonstrate, recommend, and sell professional hair care and makeup products.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Capability to build and maintain customer relationships and clientele.

SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Continuous mobility and ability to lift/move up to 10 lbs.
• Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, and standing for long periods.
• Coordination and manipulation of objects during shift.
