GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE
The Master Stylist engages with guests, consults on hair care needs, and recommends products and services. They deliver high-quality professional services focused on the guest’s overall look, supporting the Experience Manager (SM) and Assistant Services Manager (ASM) by emphasizing performance, guest service, and process compliance. A passion for the beauty industry, excellent guest service, and product knowledge are essential.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Master Stylist embodies Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values through the following duties:
Performance
- Perform hair design, cuts, color, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing (where applicable).
- Achieve or surpass a weekly sales goal of $1250 and meet productivity targets through excellent guest service and sales.
- Conduct product demonstrations to enhance sales and guest experience.
- Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing to provide an exceptional guest experience.
- Stay informed about industry trends, products, and services, and communicate their benefits to guests.
- Maintain consistent attendance.
People
- Build guest relationships through consultations and tailored recommendations.
- Serve all guests efficiently, including walk-ins.
- Collaborate with skin therapists and retail teams for a comprehensive guest experience.
- Develop professional relationships with peers and brand partners to deliver exceptional service.
- Promote loyalty programs, including credit options and the Ulta Beauty app.
- Attend mandatory training and team meetings for ongoing professional development.
Process
- Comply with Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards.
- Follow all safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols, adhering to state guidelines.
- Follow established service protocols to ensure consistency and quality.
- Use booking and client management systems effectively.
- Communicate supply needs to the Experience Manager to ensure guest readiness.
- Maintain cleanliness and operational standards across the store.
- Adhere to dress code policies.
- Protect company assets through loss prevention practices.
- Perform other operational tasks as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Cosmetology license required.
Experience
- Relevant work experience is required.
Skills
- Proficiency in current salon techniques across all service categories or willingness to develop these skills.
- Ability to operate salon equipment and handle chemicals safely.
- Ability to recommend and sell professional hair care and makeup products.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to build and maintain a loyal client base.
