GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE
The Master Stylist engages with guests, consulting on their hair care needs, recommending products and services, and delivering high-quality professional services focused on the guest’s overall look. They support the Experience Manager and Assistant Services Manager through performance, people, and process excellence. A passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service skills, and the ability to learn and communicate product knowledge are essential.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Master Stylist demonstrates Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values by performing the following duties:
Performance
- Perform hair design, cuts, color, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing (where applicable).
- Achieve or surpass a weekly sales goal of $1250 through excellent guest service and contribute to retail and service sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrink reduction.
- Conduct product demonstrations to enhance sales and guest experience.
- Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives.
- Stay informed about industry trends, products, and services to better serve guests.
- Maintain consistent attendance.
People
- Develop and maintain guest relationships through consultations and tailored recommendations.
- Serve all guests efficiently, including walk-ins.
- Collaborate with skin therapists and retail teams to provide comprehensive guest experiences.
- Build professional relationships with peers and brand partners.
- Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
- Attend mandatory training and meetings for ongoing professional development.
Process
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
- Follow safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols.
- Adhere to service protocols for a consistent guest experience.
- Use booking and client management systems effectively.
- Communicate supply needs to the Experience Manager.
- Maintain cleanliness and operational standards of the store.
- Follow the Ulta Beauty dress code.
- Implement loss prevention practices and provide excellent guest service.
- Perform other operational tasks as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Cosmetology license required.
Experience
- Relevant work experience necessary.
Skills
- Proficiency in latest salon techniques and ability to develop skills across all service categories.
- Knowledge of equipment and chemical use.
- Ability to demonstrate, recommend, and sell professional products.
- Strong communication skills.
