Job summary

Confidential Careers is seeking a Master Scheduler to keep our operations on a tight timetable. You will own the daily production schedule and capacity planning for the forecast, coordinating with procurement to ensure materials are in stock and with the Manufacturing Manager and HR to align people resources with demand.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in production scheduling in a plastic injection molding or similar setting, APICS certification, and experience with Epicor or IQMS.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of production scheduling experience in a plastics/manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to re-sequence production with tool changes and downtime.
  • Strong understanding of plastic injection molding processes and capacity constraints.
  • Excellent communication with cross-functional teams.
  • APICS certification for planning and scheduling.
  • ERP experience with Epicor and IQMS preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with purchasing and materials teams regarding material availability and shortages.
  • Create and communicate a clear daily production schedule and meet due dates.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Manager, Materials Team, Die Setters and Process Tech Teams, Tooling Manager, PM/HR to plan resources.
  • Lead daily cross-functional meetings and communicate schedule changes affecting deliverables.
  • Determine capacity planning for manufacturing and assembly activities.

Job description

TheMaster Scheduler position is to keep our operations running on a tight and efficient timetable. This is a production and capacity planning position, so you will be responsible for scheduling the daily production process, as well as capacity planning for the known forecast. This includes working with material procurement to make sure required materials/components are in inventory to meet the scheduled press time as well as working with the Manufacturing Manager and HR to ensure people resources are planned.

Top Accountabilities:
  • Maintain, adjust, and report out capacity planning schedules
  • Create and communicate a clear concise daily production schedule that meets required due dates and distribute to the Manufacturing and Program Management Teams prior to 4pm daily
  • Collaborate closely with personnel from various departments, including Manufacturing Manager, Materials Team, Die Setters and Process Tech Teams, Tooling Manager as well as the Project Management Team and HR Manager.
Specific Responsibilities:
  • Interface with purchasing and materials teams regarding material availability and shortages
  • Clearly communicate requirements and capacities to relevant departments and coworkers, ensuring strong institutional awareness and preparedness
  • Adjust production processes according to current and emerging needs, with any changes needed after the 3:30pm deadline to be approved by the PM Supervisor, PM Manager, Manufacturing Manager in this order or Director of Operations if the others are unavailable
  • Utilize Epicor for scheduling and planning
  • Ability to organize and multi-task
  • Lead Daily Cross Functional Morning meeting communicating potential and actual changes which have an impact on customer deliverables
  • Determine capacity planning for manufacturing and assembly activities
Required Experience and Skills:
  • 10+ years of experience in production scheduling, master scheduling, or manufacturing planning within a plastic injection molding or similar highly engineered manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex, frequently changing production schedules where priorities may shift due to tooling changes, new tool development, tool modifications, repairs, maintenance, or unexpected tooling issues.
  • Strong understanding of plastic injection molding processes, tooling, production lead times, and capacity constraints, with the ability to quickly re-sequence production while minimizing disruption to customer commitments and plant efficiency.
  • Proven ability to balance multiple competing priorities, changing tool availability, material requirements, machine capacity, and production deadlines in a fast-paced development environment.
  • Strong team player with experience working closely with Tooling, Engineering, Production, Quality, and Project Management teams to adjust schedules and communicate the impact of changes.
  • Proactive and urgent mindset to anticipate schedule conflicts, identify risks, and develop contingency plans when tools require repairs, modifications, or unexpected downtime.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience interfacing with clients directly.
  • APICS certification for planning and scheduling
  • ERP Experience: Epicor and IQMS preferred

Work performed in an office and manufacturing plant environment. Normal mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer. Frequently walks, stands, grips/grasps, bends/stoops, crouches, and lifts and carries up to twenty (20) lbs. and occasionally up to fifty (50) lbs.
