Job summary

Gerard Daniel Worldwide is seeking a highly analytical Master Scheduler to plan, coordinate, and manage the flow of materials across the manufacturing cycle at our Fontana facility. Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and adjust the master production schedule for manufactured and purchased goods.
  • Provide accurate customer promise dates based on backlog, capacity, and priorities.
  • Manage rush orders through the manufacturing process and keep a rolling 26-week schedule.
  • Coordinate production plans to align objectives with capabilities.
  • Manage work orders from release to final closure and ensure routing steps are completed.
  • Monitor progress and address issues that impact schedules and throughput.
  • Analyze capacity and resource utilization to optimize production performance.
  • Partner with Procurement and Sales to align material requirements with demand.
  • Maintain planning data in ERP/MRP systems and ensure data accuracy.
  • Generate reports and KPIs to monitor schedule adherence and service levels.

Job description

With over 70 years of experience in wire and wire cloth products, Gerard Daniel Worldwide's sales teams and applications engineers collaborate with our customers to create solutions to their manufacturing and supply chain challenges. We serve a diverse range of industries, including aerospace, transportation, clean energy, pharmaceutical, oil and gas, mining, food processing, and industrial manufacturing.

We are seeking a highly analytical and results-oriented Master Scheduler to plan, coordinate, and manage the flow of raw materials through finished goods across the entire manufacturing cycle. This role is critical to ensuring material availability, optimizing production efficiency, balancing capacity requirements, and supporting on-time customer delivery. The Master Scheduler serves as a key liaison between Operations, Procurement, Sales, and Inventory teams to develop and maintain an effective master production schedule while driving continuous improvement through data analysis and performance monitoring. The ideal candidate possesses strong planning expertise, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to influence cross-functional teams in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Work Location Requirement

This is a fully onsite position based at Gerard Daniel Worldwide's manufacturing facility in Fontana California. The Master Scheduler is expected to report to the office and manufacturing site each business day and work closely with Operations, Procurement, Inventory, and Production teams to support effective scheduling and execution activities. Due to the highly collaborative and operational nature of this role, remote or hybrid work arrangements are not available.

Key Responsibilities
1) Master Production Scheduling & Production Planning
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously adjust the master production schedule for both manufactured and purchased finished goods.
  • Provide accurate customer promise dates based on production backlog, available capacity, material availability, and operational priorities.
  • Manage, prioritize, and expedite approved rush orders through the manufacturing process.
  • Maintain a level-loaded rolling 26-week master production schedule across both manufacturing sites.
  • Coordinate production plans to align business objectives, customer requirements, and operational capabilities.
2) Work Order Management & Manufacturing Coordination
  • Manage all manufacturing and subcontract work orders from release through final financial closure.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Quality, Procurement, and other functional areas to ensure routing steps and production activities are completed as planned.
  • Monitor work order progress and proactively address issues that may impact production schedules.
  • Support timely execution of manufacturing plans while maintaining production efficiency and schedule adherence.
3) Capacity Planning & Resource Optimization
  • Review manufacturing capacity plans and identify potential constraints impacting production objectives.
  • Analyze resource utilization, including labor, equipment, and facility capacity.
  • Recommend operational strategies that optimize throughput, improve efficiency, and support business growth.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing leadership to balance demand requirements against available resources.
4) Material Requirements Planning & Inventory Management
  • Partner closely with Procurement and Sales teams to align material requirements with customer demand and production schedules.
  • Analyze bills of materials (BOMs), inventory levels, and consumption trends to ensure material availability.
  • Support raw material planning and inventory strategies that minimize shortages while controlling inventory investment.
  • Establish and maintain target inventory levels for raw materials, subassemblies, and finished goods.
  • Ensure material constraints are identified and addressed proactively to prevent disruptions.
5) Demand Planning & Supply Chain Strategy
  • Conduct short-term and long-term demand reviews to support production planning and procurement activities.
  • Evaluate demand trends to support safety stock planning and inventory optimization initiatives.
  • Provide recommendations regarding make-versus-buy decisions and supply chain strategies.
  • Collaborate with leadership and functional teams to align production plans with business forecasts.
6) ERP/MRP Systems & Planning Tools
  • Analyze material and production requirements and maintain schedule data within ERP/MRP systems and planning tools.
  • Load and maintain the master production schedule within the Syteline system and related planning platforms.
  • Account for constraints involving materials, manpower, machinery, and facility capacity.
  • Ensure planning data is accurate, timely, and aligned with operational requirements.
7) Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement
  • Generate and present reports on operational performance and service production metrics.
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to schedule adherence, production execution, inventory management, and customer service.
  • Analyze trends, identify performance gaps, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance planning processes and operational effectiveness.
8) Data Integrity, Compliance & Training
  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of planning and inventory data within ERP/MRP systems.
  • Perform inventory and consumption analysis to support divisional inventory goals and safety stock optimization.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable Quality Management System (QMS), Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS), and regulatory requirements.
  • Complete all required training and maintain qualified status for applicable company systems and processes.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • 5-10 years of master production scheduling, production planning, and capacity planning experience within a high-volume metals manufacturing or comparable industrial environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on ERP/MRP system experience supporting production and inventory management activities.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, production control, inventory management, and supply chain processes.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience developing and reporting key operational metrics and KPIs.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and business reporting tools.
  • Experience presenting operational data and recommendations to management and executive leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
  • APICS certifications such as CPIM, CSCP, or equivalent professional credentials.
  • Experience working within metals manufacturing, industrial manufacturing, wire products, fabricated components, or similar production environments.
  • Advanced ERP/MRP planning system expertise.
  • Experience supporting multi-site manufacturing operations.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
  • Ability to work in both office and industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to regularly walk manufacturing facilities and production areas.
  • Ability to analyze data and work extensively with computer-based planning systems.
  • Ability to occasionally travel between manufacturing sites, suppliers, and customer locations as required.
