The University of Akron invites applications for a Master Plumber role within its facilities services. You will perform skilled plumbing repairs, oversee installations, inspect systems, order parts, and train staff as a team leader.
Responsibilities include leading a crew, completing work orders, maintaining safety standards, and coordinating with other trades, departments and contractors. A high school diploma or GED and a valid Ohio driver’s license are required.
Perform skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled plumbing repairs and installations. Plan, inspect, record and oversee plumbing concerns. Evaluate systems, research solutions and order repair parts and supplies. Serve as team leader and train others in proper work methods and procedures.
Provide guidance to nonexempt staff including general scheduling, assigning tasks and monitoring the work of others, as assigned by the Supervisor.
Must be able to lift 80 pounds without assistance and demonstrate bending, crouching and lifting. Must be able to climb a ladder, scaffolding and work on rooftops.
Routine exposure to heat, cold, moisture/wetness, inclement weather, noise, air pollution and heights. May involve exposure to chemical substances, hazards and moving parts.
Shift available : Mon- Fri, 7:00am-3:30pm. Work schedule is subject to change in accordance with University needs and/or the results of the shift line-up process. Overtime/Call-ins may be mandatory based on University need.
