Make an impact in the community by joining the Facilities Team!The Facilities Division consists of 24 staff members that work hard to ensure all residents and employees of Broomfield have access to clean, safe, and energy efficient buildings.
The Master Pipefitter performs professional, complex technical work, and oversight in the installation, maintenance, repair, and replacement of various piping and plumbing components and equipment located throughout City and County facilities. They are responsible for the modification of existing fire sprinkler systems and/or the installation of new fire sprinkler systems.
Total Compensation Package
Salary Range: $39.99 - $54.11/hour | |

40 hour/week set schedule (on call work required approx every seven weeks) |
Performs new installations, repairs, and preventative maintenance tasks for commercial-type plumbing services in city-owned or leased facilities
Install and service a variety of other fire protection equipment such as standpipes, fire pumps, foam systems, clean agent systems, and underground fire supply piping.
Conduct work in a safe manner utilizing all required PPE, complying with safe work policies and practices, etc.
Perform installation, preventative maintenance, service/repair and trouble-shooting of automatic fire sprinkler systems along with all its related equipment, including all types of fixed fire extinguishing systems (e.g. fire sprinkler, fire suppression), in strict accordance with applicable codes and standards
Flow testing of fire hydrants
Maintains all high-pressure, industrial piping and plumbing equipment, in a manner that protects the safety of the public and employees
Monitors and inspects facilities, equipment, and high-pressure piping systems to determine compliance with State standards, and need for repair or upgrades
Analyzes malfunctions and makes repairs or adjustments; troubleshoots and diagnoses various types of piping and plumbing systems
Coordinates, monitors and performs installation of materials, fixtures and equipment to piping and plumbing systems
Responds to piping and plumbing service calls and provides problem resolution
Coordinates and oversees the work performed by piping and plumbing contractors for compliance to standards and work practices
Installs, tests, and repairs all sizes of backflow prevention devices, back siphonage, or cross connection
Responsible for obtaining all necessary permits and coordinating inspections with the Building Department to ensure compliance.
Education
High School Diploma/GED - required
Backflow Prevention Certification - required
State of Colorado Master PipeFitter license - required
UA STAR Fire Sprinkler Fitting Mastery Exam - required
CSA Sprinkler Commercial On-site Competent Person Exam (ASCR2) - required
Experience
6 years total experience in the commercial plumbing trade, troubleshooting, and/or maintenance and repair(including experience with steel and CPVC pipe), including 4 years for Journeyman license, 1 year for Master license, and 1 additional year of work experience at the Master level
Experience in testing Backflow prevention devices and in servicing and testing portable fire extinguishers - preferred.
1 yearlead/supervisory experience - required.
Years of related experience may be substituted for required education, however education cannot be substituted for the necessary work experience. Candidates must meet the minimum required years of work experience.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be at least 18 years of age. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving record for continued employment. New hires must, as a condition of employment, pass the following pre-offer and post-offer/hire processes: in-person or virtual interviews, reference checks, background checks including local police check and sex-offender registry, DMV check, and pre-placement physical, fingerprints through CBI/FBI, and bi-annual CJIS certification.
Work is generally scheduled Monday through Friday with some weekend and holiday work required.
May be called into work at any hour to perform emergency repairs as needed.
In-person customer/client/team meetings required.
Physical demands are described as heavy (exert up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects).
Required to ascend, descend, and work on a 20 foot ladder as well as rooftops of multiple-story buildings.
Required to operate/use/handle/construct plumbing equipment, office equipment, hand tools, etc.
Required to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
Required to communicate and/or detect sounds
Required to sit, kneel, or crawl
Requires walking or standing to a significant degree.
May occasionally be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes, or airborne particles.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus, color vision, and peripheral vision as it relates to the overall job duties and responsibilities.
