Job summary

Volvo Group is seeking a Metal Finisher for the Kings Mountain Operations (KMO) facility. You will inspect Mack MRU TerraPro cab assemblies for surface and weld quality, perform repairs with GMAW/MIG and stud-welding, and ensure compliance with standards.

Ideal candidates will have hands-on experience with body-in-white finishing, use of finishing tools, and the ability to read drawings and follow standard work. Training and safety are emphasized, with growth opportunities within Volvo Group.

Qualifications

• Ability to visually identify subtle metal-surface and assembly defects under production lighting.
• Ability to safely set up and operate GMAW or MIG welding and stud-welding equipment for controlled repairs.
• Ability to use dent pullers, slide hammers, and grinders without causing secondary damage.
• Ability to evaluate repaired welds for location, fusion, porosity, and spatter.
• Ability to read and follow standardized work, notes, and drawings.
• Ability to distinguish in-scope repairs from nonstandard or escalated work.
• Ability to document defects clearly and communicate with Production, Quality, and Engineering.
• Completion of required KMO training and demonstrated qualification for each method.

Responsibilities

• Inspect each cab assembly using lighting and feel to identify defects.
• Detect and repair dents, dings, twists, and misalignments.
• Verify holes, slots, and mounting features for correct location and fit.
• Repair/replace weld nuts and studs; ensure thread integrity.
• Inspect welds for imperfections and perform corrective repair.
• Dress and blend welded repairs to required contours.
• Re-inspect areas to ensure compliance with standards.
• Record defects and maintain traceability in the system.
