Primary Purpose

Under minor supervision, inspects, analyzes and repairs all Alvin ISD fleet and heavy‑duty vehicles including buses, gasoline and diesel‑powered vehicles and equipment, acts as Team Leader and assigns duties to other mechanics when Shop Foreman is not available.

Qualifications

Education/Certification: High School Diploma or GED. Technical School Preferred. ASE Certification Preferred.

Special Knowledge/Skills: Office equipment (e.g., computer, copier); Hand tools (e.g., hammer, shovel, screwdriver); Power tools (e.g., radial saw, reciprocating saw, drill, pneumatic hammer); Vehicles (e.g., automobile, truck, tractor, forklift).

Must obtain a Class B CDL with passenger and School Bus endorsement within 90 days from time of hire. Maintains TEA certification. Propane repair/system certification. State vehicle inspection certification. Ability to read and understand English. A/C recovery certification.
