Job summary

Butchs Propane Llc in Odessa, TX seeks an experienced diesel mechanic to inspect, diagnose, and repair heavy equipment and vehicles. You will perform preventive maintenance, upgrades, and engine swaps, while maintaining accurate service records.

A strong background in diesel systems, plus English proficiency, is required. Qualifications include 10+ years of experience, diesel certification, ownership of tools, and a valid driver's license with a good record.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years' experience in diesel engine maintenance and repair.
• Must be able to perform engine swaps and rebuilds.
• MUST HAVE DIESEL ENGINE CERTIFICATION and MUST HAVE OWN TOOLS.
• Must have a valid driver's license with approvable driving record and pass a drug test.
• Speak, write, read, and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests.
• Perform preventive maintenance and upgrades; maintain and service components and systems.
• Repair, replace, and overhaul major assemblies and subsystems including powertrain, electrical, brakes, hydraulics.
• Maintain vehicle records and prioritize defects per DVIRS.
• On-call responsibilities and other duties as assigned.

Position Description –This position includes, but is not limited to the following responsibilities:Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts.Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion; completing winterization procedures.Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics; completes machine shop operations; making adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units.Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.Contains costs by using warranty, evaluating service and parts options.Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt. Daily review of DVIRS to prioritize defects, include DVIR with the service order repair form and documentation upon completion.Enhances maintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
