Job summary

Mchale- is seeking an experienced auto/heavy duty diesel mechanic to support preventative maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on gas/diesel vehicles, trailers, heavy equipment, and small engines. The role includes on‑road work and after‑hours availability as needed, with DOT inspections and thorough repair documentation.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in the field, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to obtain DOT medical certification.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years experience as auto/heavy duty diesel and small engine mechanic or equivalent
• Must have a valid driver’s license with clean driving record
• Must be able to get DOT Medical Certification
• Highly motivated, self-driven, and detailed oriented
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Time management and organizational skills
• Must be professional in appearance and actions
• Punctual and dependable with a can-do attitude
• Ability to independently and within a team
• Ability to work effectively with individuals of differing backgrounds, knowledge, and skill levels
• Bilingual (Spanish) a plus, not required

Description

Purpose

The position is responsible for working under the Shop Manager to perform preventive maintenance, and basic to intermediate diagnostics and repairs on gas and diesel automobiles, heavy-duty trucks, heavy equipment, and small-engine equipment.

Essential Responsibilities

• Repair of heavy-duty diesel trucks and tractor-trailers
• Repair trailers
• Repair heavy equipment
• Repair diesel and gas light/medium-duty trucks, pickup trucks, vans, and cars, as needed.
• Repair small equipment including mowers, string trimmers, blowers, etc.
• Thorough and accurate diagnostic skill (electrical/mechanical)
• Perform PM services and DOT inspections
• Provide accurate repair order documentation
• If applicable, welding as needed
• On the Road Technician (including after hours, as needed)
• Must be available to work during all-weather events

Working Conditions

Physical demands require constantly moving, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Frequently operates machinery and will use hands/fingers and legs to operate, activate, use, prepare, inspect, place, detect, and position materials. Frequently required to stand and walk, lift and/or move up to 20 to over 50 lbs. with assistance. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Constantly required to communicate with ability to talk and hear. Job will require constantly working outdoors in all types of weather conditions and exposure to elements. This can include heavy to moderate noise, extreme proximity to moving equipment or machinery, proximity to electrical energy, exposure to tools and machines used in construction industries.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have supervisory duties

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

The standard work hours for this position are 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. May need to work remotely if any emergency office closure would arise.

Travel

Local travel is expected for this position.
