Job summary

Job description

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Training staff in the department on areas of expertise, including mentoring an apprentice.
  • Performing preventative maintenance on building systems, plumbing, electrical, mechanical and control systems and related components.
  • Repairing and maintaining a variety of mechanical systems and components for safety, reliability and efficiency.
  • Helping the team maintain services and monitor operations of HVAC equipment, mechanical systems, refrigeration and/or cooling systems (including HVAC and refrigeration system operation for general areas and kitchens).
  • Identifying repair and maintenance projects that require contractors or vendors, participating in estimates and evaluations of project costs, and monitoring vendor or contractor work.
  • Accessing and making adjustments to computerized control systems for building management (Inncom, TRANE, Niagara4).
  • Using the CMMS system for corrective and preventive maintenance tasks, tracking and closing assigned work orders, and assisting teammates with managing and completing work orders.
  • Maintaining a broad working knowledge of materials, systems and code requirements related to hospitality facility maintenance.
  • Responding to emergencies and closures, including adverse weather, to keep all facilities protected and operational.
  • Understanding and following all safety procedures of the facility.
  • Training less-skilled staff on safety procedures related to maintenance operations.
  • Assisting in safety inspections.
  • Maintaining appropriate records and reports.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
What You Need for this Position
  • 2+ years of education or training in HVAC, or an associate’s degree in the facilities maintenance trades (HVAC preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in maintenance or repair in a commercial or industrial setting (HVAC preferred).
  • Ability to use and train others on a variety of tools and power equipment.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate work and track preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Ability to maintain records and reports in computerized and written formats, compliant with regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to effectively use email and automated calendaring systems.
  • Ability to make arithmetic calculations quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to learn and apply health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
  • Ability to optimize efficiencies provided by automated maintenance management and service request tools.
  • Ability to work from blueprints, shop drawings and sketches.
  • Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • Ability to stand and sit for long periods, able to stoop and bend, and handle tasks that may require repetitive motion.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry 80 pounds, climb ladders, work with power tools, and work in and around mechanical equipment.
