Job summary

Lonza in Vacaville, CA is seeking a Master Maintenance Mechanic for a fully site-based role. You will maximize equipment availability by performing preventive and corrective maintenance, while providing 24/7 coverage for maintenance tasks, discrepancy response, and project support in GMP manufacturing environments.

The role requires reading piping and instrumentation diagrams, basic computer skills, and collaboration with Manufacturing, Quality, Technology and Engineering.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience with GMP environments preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Timely execution of maintenance tasks and work orders with proper documentation.
• Operate tools safely and perform field work at heights with fall protection.
• Enter Confined Space work following laws and policies.
• Read piping and instrumentation diagrams and technical manuals.
• Utilize CMMS and standard MS Office tools (Word, Excel).
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Technology and Engineering.
• Train others on qualified tasks and participate in multidisciplinary projects.

Job description

This is a fully site‑based role. Working together in person supports close, real‑time collaboration and the technical precision needed to manufacture medicines to the highest quality and safety standards.

The primary responsibility of a Master Maintenance Mechanic is to maximize equipment availability for processing by safely maintaining equipment through Preventive and Corrective maintenance and repairs. Responsibility will include providing personnel 24/hours/day, 7 days per week for maintenance, discrepancy response, contractor oversight, vendor resource management, project support and training. All Process Maintenance Mechanics are trained to perform routine maintenance in the primary manufacturing support areas and Materials Management, Quality Control Labs, and Utility Operations.

What you will do

Timely execution of tasks and work orders with appropriate documentation according to Standard Operating Procedures, applicable standards, guidelines, practices, and policies.

Safe operation of tools and shop equipment, and safe execution of work in the field; working at heights using fall protection and work positioners.

Confined Space Entry in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and policies.

Ability to read and understand piping and instrumentation drawings, and technical manuals.

Basic computer skills with the ability to utilize corporate intranet and applications, CMMS, and standard word processing and spreadsheet programs (i.e. Word, Excel, etc.).

Interact and communicate appropriately with Manufacturing, Quality, Technology, and Engineering to ensure satisfactory performance of mechanical systems.

Train other mechanics in group and individual settings on qualified tasks represent Process Maintenance on multidisciplinary project teams.

Shift: DayShift :6:00am - 6:30pm OR NightShift: 6:00pm – 6:30am

What we look for:

High School Diploma or GED Required
Uses ability as a skilled specialist in accordance with company policies and procedures to complete complex assignments within defined parameters.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with reasonable accommodations.

Experienced in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and calibration management programs; SAP experience preferred.

Experience working in a GMP regulated environment is preferred.

Valid driver’s license.
