  • Basic Life Support (AHA) certification within 120 days of hire/date.
  • CADC or CAADC certification required or to be pursued per policy.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop individualized treatment plans using ASAM Patient Placement Criteria and DSM-IV-TR diagnostic standards based on patients' bio-psycho-social histories and presenting needs.
  • Facilitate group and individual therapy sessions using evidence-based therapeutic techniques to help patients explore problems, identify solutions, and address co-existing medical or psychiatric conditions.
  • Manage patient caseloads and maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation consistent with all policies, procedures, licensing, accreditation, and reimbursement requirements.
  • Coordinate comprehensive care services including case management, family involvement, psychiatric consultation, and aftercare planning to ensure continuity of treatment.
  • Conduct didactic sessions presenting relevant information to patients regarding chemical dependency, recovery, and available community resources and support groups.
  • Recognize elements of patient crises and implement appropriate immediate interventions in coordination with the treatment team.
  • Evaluate treatment effectiveness and intervention outcomes, sharing feedback with leadership for continuous process improvement.
  • Serve as a clinical leader by mentoring new personnel, serving as a field instructor for students, and maintaining current knowledge through professional development and participation in relevant boards or publications.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and agency policies governing alcohol and other drug abuse services, including obtaining appropriate consents for information sharing.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, families, colleagues, and external resources while demonstrating cultural sensitivity and therapeutic boundaries.
Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • State of Michigan license in respective discipline required. Licensure/certification monitored by health ministry Central Credentialing Office.
  • Basic Life Support Provider certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) to be obtained within 120 days of hire/transfer date required.

Licensure/certification monitored by health ministry Central Credentialing Office. One or more of the following required:

  • Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) or Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC). Licensure/certification monitored by health ministry Central Credentialing Office.

Education:

  • Masters degree in Counseling, Social Work or Psychology required.
  • Work Experience: Experience in chemical dependency treatment setting required. - 5 years work experience in chemical dependency counseling inclusive of experience obtained under a Bachelors degree preferred.
