Job summary

Midway Electric seeks a Master HVAC Technician to lead growth and perform hands-on diagnostics, installations, and mentoring for the expanding HVAC division in Columbia, Missouri. You will drive quality standards from the field and balance technical leadership with hands-on trades.

The role targets a Master Mechanical HVACR license, EPA 608 certification, and 5+ years of experience, with a typical Mon–Fri schedule and rotating on-call coverage. A company vehicle is provided.

Qualifications

• Active Master Mechanical HVACR (Type A) license; willingness to pull municipal permits.
• EPA 608 Universal certification is required.
• 5+ years of total HVAC experience, including commercial service/installation.
• Ability to perform load calculations, system sizing, ductwork, and commissioning.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record.

Responsibilities

• Spend 75–80% of time in the field performing hands-on diagnostic repairs and full system installations.
• Pull municipal permits and serve as the licensed point of accountability on all HVAC jobs.
• Build residential and commercial job estimates directly inside HouseCall Pro.
• Mentor junior technicians on site to ensure craftsmanship and safety standards.
• Execute full system replacements, load calculations, sizing, ductwork, and commissioning.
• Participate in rotating after-hours on-call coverage for emergencies.

Job Overview

• Salary/Pay Rate: $36.00 – $42.00 per hour ($74,000 – $87,000 annualized)
• Location: Columbia, MO
• Job/Employment Type: Full Time
• Schedule: Monday – Friday, ~7:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Rotating on-call coverage)
• Project Scope: Residential & Commercial HVAC Service, Diagnostics, and Installation
• Mandatory Licences & Certifications: Active Master Mechanical HVACR (Type A) License, EPA 608 Universal Certification, Valid Driver's License

The Opportunity

You will serve as the licensed point of technical authority driving the growth of our expanding HVAC division. You will run complex field diagnostics and installations while mentoring team members to set the standard for quality. This role lets you lead a growing division from the truck without giving up your hands-on trade skills.

How You Will Make An Impact

• Spend 75–80% of your week in the field performing hands-on diagnostic repairs and full system installations.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Active Master Mechanical HVACR (Type A) license with willingness to pull municipal permits.
• Active EPA 608 Universal certification.
• 5+ years of total HVAC experience, including significant commercial service and installation work.
• Demonstrated ability to perform load calculations, system sizing, ductwork, and commissioning.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

• Prior experience as a lead technician, service manager, or working owner-operator.
• Proven track record of training and mentoring technicians in field settings.
• Established local connections with suppliers, builders, and property managers in mid-Missouri.
