Master Forklift Field Service Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a Forklift Field Service Technician for our Itasca branch. The position is first shift, M - F, hourly (no flat rate). Field Technicians will be provided a company service van, fuel card, and required paperwork.

Responsibilities include:

• Perform preventive maintenance on customer forklifts and other material handling equipment
• Diagnose and repair all forms of customer equipment
• Complete each repair job in a timely, efficient, and professional manner
• Provide exceptional customer service
• Work and manage workloads independently
• Submit all required documentation in a timely manner
• Maintain company vehicle and on-board parts inventory
• Incorporate Alta’s Guiding Principles into daily activities
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Maintain consistent, regular, and reliable attendance

Compensation: $26 to $42 per hour, depending on location, skillset, education, and experience. Benefits include paid time off, paid holidays, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• At least two years of forklift repair experience, preferably including military or reserve experience with MOS/NEC codes 63B, 63H, 63S, 63W, 63Y, 91B, 91H, 91L, 91M or CM
• Preferred previous field experience
• Strong knowledge of electric and liquid propane units
• Excellent mechanical aptitude
• Own tools
• Clean driving record and valid driver’s license to operate the company vehicle
• Computer proficiency with HYPASS, Hyster TKC training software, and Yale/Hyster contact management system
• Intermediate language skills: read safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before groups of customers or employees
• Basic mathematical skills: add and subtract two-digit numbers, multiply and divide 10s and 100s, perform calculations with money, weight, volume, and distance
• Intermediate reasoning ability: apply common sense to instructions in written, oral or diagram form; handle problems with multiple concrete variables

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Regular standing, walking, hand use, reaching; frequent talking and hearing; occasional sitting, climbing, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
• Frequent bending and working from prone positions
• No special vision requirements
• Regular lifting up to 10 pounds; frequent lifting 11‑25 pounds; occasional lifting 26‑100+ pounds
• Work near moving mechanical parts; exposure to fumes or airborne particles; outdoor weather conditions; wet or humid conditions; extreme cold or heat; risk of electrical shock and vibration
