Job Description

Trystar is a leader in portable and permanent power distribution solutions. This role ensures that all Trystar products comply with the National Electrical Code (NEC) as well as all applicable state and local electrical codes. The Master Electrician is expected to uphold the highest standards of workmanship by following established industry practices, ensuring every installation meets our expectations for quality, safety, and reliability.

Trystar’s team members are our most important asset; we are in search of a Master Electrician for our Houston, Texas site. This position plays a critical role in achieving our strategic objectives and is an important part of Trystar’s plan to become the world’s foremost custom solution provider.

The Master Electrician is a skilled professional responsible for the hands‑on presence on the manufacturing floor while verifying compliance, ensuring electrical quality throughout the facility and projects. This position will report to the Site Manufacturing Leader.

Job Responsibilities
  • Actively participate in the electrical installation contractor selection process, ensuring all selected contractors are fully qualified, properly licensed, and capable of performing work in compliance with national, state, and local electrical codes.
  • Inspect and verify contractor electrical installations to ensure full compliance with applicable electric codes, UL standards, engineering drawings, and Trystar specifications.
  • Work collaboratively with Engineering during product evaluations, inspections, listing updates, and compliance reviews to ensure Trystar products meet all required testing and certification standards.
  • Lead the development of Functional Acceptance Testing (FAT) plans, as well as additional testing and inspection procedures required to validate Trystar products and systems.
  • Support field technicians during installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and site‑based testing to ensure safe, compliant, and successful field execution.
  • Participate extensively in the selection and hiring of electrical inspectors, verifying that candidates possess strong knowledge of the local city electrical codes and permitting requirements in the markets where Trystar products will be delivered or installed.
  • Engage actively in electrical design reviews with Engineering teams and contractors, providing code‑based guidance, constructability feedback, and recommendations to ensure full compliance and reliability.
  • Conduct functional testing on Load Banks, Switchgear, Control Units, and other electrical assemblies to support production, commissioning, and troubleshooting, including systems using Woodward, ComAp, and related controller technologies.
  • Assist with assembly of control units and other electrical products when necessary to support manufacturing schedules, product launches, or operational demands.
  • Coordinate with the Manufacturer Technical Representative (MTR) to obtain, maintain, and address any issues related to UL certification for Trystar products.
  • Provide the team with all required information and documentation regarding product changes, ensuring Trystar remains compliant with applicable certification requirements.
  • Provide Engineering with design guidance to ensure Trystar products meet relevant electric codes, UL standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Manufacturing Engineering team to ensure SOPs meet all applicable standards and certification requirements.
  • Ensure production procedures are documented such that labels are properly applied to all products.
  • Coordinate Field Evaluation Body (FEB) investigators to obtain labeling for Trystar products that are not listed.
  • Interact with sales and our customers to clarify UL/CSA and other codes and standards and how they apply to our products.
  • Support all departments by answering questions on listings, codes, and standards.
  • Be active in the development of new codes and standards.
Job Requirements
  • Master Electrician license
  • 10+ years of hands‑on electrical experience
