Master Electrician — AI Prefab Solutions (Hutto, TX)
Position Summary
AI Prefab Solutions is seeking a Master Electrician to lead electrical operations at our 200,000 SF modular manufacturing facility in Hutto, TX. This role spans two phases: supporting the facility's electrical infrastructure build-out and then transitioning to steady-state responsibility for electrical systems supporting prefab module and skid production. Reporting into the Manufacturing & Supply Chain organization, this person will be a hands-on technical leader as we scale toward full production capacity.
Key Responsibilities
Master Electricians in this role are responsible for a broad range of tasks spanning facility electrical infrastructure and production support. They provide technical oversight to electricians, coordinate with engineering, facilities, and manufacturing leadership, and ensure compliance with all applicable safety and code regulations. This role also involves planning electrical systems for the manufacturing facility, providing professional assessments during the build-out phase, and ensuring the electrical infrastructure scales with production volume (planning basis: up to ~60 modules and skids in process simultaneously).
Typical Duties
Facility Build-Out Phase
- Support commissioning of infrastructure and the Oncor electrical service upgrade
- Review and advise on "Additional Panels/Feeders for AI Prefab Assembly Operations" and related facility electrical scope
- Inspect installed electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards and confirm code compliance ahead of occupancy
Production Support (Steady-State)
- Design and execute plans for electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures supporting the assembly floor, test equipment, and material handling systems, in accordance with job specifications and local/national code
- Direct and oversee the work of electricians and subcontractors on the shop floor
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems and components, using test equipment to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem, minimizing production downtime
- Manage preventive maintenance procedures for facility and production electrical systems to maximize uptime and cost-effectiveness
- Advise on and implement energy-saving solutions, particularly relevant given the facility's power infrastructure scale
- Perform administrative tasks including electrical system records, vendor/subcontractor management as required, and input into capital project budgets for electrical equipment and infrastructure
Education and Certification Requirements
- Texas Master Electrician License (TDLR) in good standing, or eligibility for Texas reciprocity if currently licensed in another state — requires prior licensure as a Journeyman Electrician and passage of the state exam
- An Associate's Degree in Electrical Technology or a similar field; a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline is a plus but not required
- Working knowledge of the current NEC edition as adopted by the relevant Texas jurisdiction (Williamson County / Hutto, TX)
- NFPA 70E arc-flash safety training and demonstrated PPE compliance experience
- OSHA-30 certification
- Continuous education to stay current with changes in electrical codes and technology
- Experience in industrial or manufacturing environments strongly preferred, particularly experience with high-amperage service, switchgear, or e-house/skid-based power infrastructure — directly relevant to AI Prefab's product line
Preferred / Additional
- Experience in modular or prefabricated manufacturing environments (panel assembly, subassembly testing, UL/NRTL compliance for manufactured modules) is a strong plus
- Comfortable operating in a startup/scale-up manufacturing environment, working cross-functionally with engineering and operations leadership as processes are being built out in real time
