Job summary

Silgan Closures in Evansville, IN is seeking a Master Electrician to maintain and improve our plant electrical systems and automation. You will troubleshoot PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, and SCADA while supporting power distribution and safety standards on site.

You will work with maintenance, operations, and engineering to ensure reliable production, uphold electrical safety, and back up critical control systems. Prior manufacturing electrical experience and OSHA 30 are preferred.

Qualifications

• Completed electrical trade program or equivalent with certification.
• Minimum 3–5 years manufacturing electrical maintenance experience.
• OSHA 30 certification and NFPA 70E arc-flash safety training.
• Proficiency in PLC, VFD, SCADA, HMI, motor controls, sizing.
• Ability to plan and troubleshoot industrial power distribution, transformers, MCCs.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial electrical systems and plant infrastructure.
• Support and maintain power distribution equipment including transformers and MCCs.
• Program, troubleshoot, and modify PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, SCADA systems.
• Diagnose electrical issues using schematics and diagnostic equipment to minimize downtime.
• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance for safe operations.
• Support capital projects, upgrades, commissioning, and improvements.
• Maintain electrical drawings, documentation, and control backups.
• Provide guidance to maintenance teams and collaborate with operations.
• Work in compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, electrical codes, and Lockout/Tagout.

What You'll Do

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial electrical systems, manufacturing equipment, and facility infrastructure.
• Support and maintain power distribution equipment, including transformers, switchgear, motor control centers (MCCs), electrical panels, and associated systems.
• Program, troubleshoot, and modify PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, SCADA systems, instrumentation, and automated control systems.
• Diagnose electrical and automation issues using schematics, technical documentation, and advanced diagnostic equipment to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.
• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities to ensure safe and efficient plant operations.
• Support capital projects, equipment installations, upgrades, commissioning activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain accurate electrical drawings, technical documentation, maintenance records, and control system backups.
• Provide technical guidance and support to maintenance team members and collaborate with operations, engineering, and production teams to achieve business objectives.
• Perform all work in compliance with OSHA requirements, NFPA 70E standards, electrical codes, Lockout/Tagout procedures, and company safety policies.

What We Need

• Completed electrical trade program, apprenticeship, technical college, or equivalent with degree, diploma, or certification.
• Minimum 3-5 years manufacturing electrical maintenance experience strongly preferred.
• OSHA 30 certification and NFPA 70E arc-flash safety training.
• Proficiency in PLC, VFD, SCADA, HMI, motor controls, motor sizing, wire sizing, circuit design, and conduit installation.
• Ability to plan, layout, inspect, and troubleshoot industrial power distribution, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, and motor logic.
