Job summary

Tradepoint Atlantic, LLC seeks a Master Electrician to lead electrical projects across a vast commercial/industrial site in Sparrows Point, MD. The role includes mentoring journeymen and apprentices, managing resources, and ensuring compliance with NEC and OSHA standards.

You will interpret drawings and specs, configure systems (fire alarms, data cabling, critical power), and work with PLCs/Ladder Logic while coordinating with plumbing, HVAC, IT, and mechanical teams.

Qualifications

  • Valid Maryland Master Electrician License (or jurisdictional equivalent).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a licensed Master Electrician with demonstrated success managing large-scale commercial/industrial projects.
  • Experience interpreting blueprints, schematics, and specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, install, and maintain electrical systems including wiring, conduit, lighting, panels, switchgear.
  • Interpret and work from blueprints, schematics, drawings, and specifications; prepare as-built updates.
  • Familiar with Programmable Logic Controllers PLC and Ladder Logic troubleshooting.
  • Create and modify CAD drawings and fabrication drawings.
  • Install and configure systems for fire alarms, HVAC power, data cabling, and critical power systems.
  • Oversee integration with other trades and ensure compliance with NEC and OSHA.

Job description

Position: Master Electrician

Tradepoint Atlantic, LLC, is seeking a Master Electrician to join its Corporate headquarters located in Sparrows Point, MD to help lead, plan, and execute electrical projects across a 3,300-acre commercial and industrial site. The ideal candidate will not only provide technical expertise but also mentor team members, manage resources, and ensure compliance with all applicable codes and safety regulations.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties
  • Plan, install, and maintain electrical systems including wiring, conduit, lighting, panels, switchgear, and related infrastructure
  • Interpret and work from blueprints, schematics, drawings, and specifications; prepare as‑built updates and rough sketches as needed
  • Familiar with Programmable Logic Controllers PLC
  • Troubleshoot and modify Ladder Logic
  • Create and modify CAD drawings and fabrication drawings
  • Install and configure systems for fire alarms, HVAC power, data cabling, critical power systems, and temporary site power
  • Source or fabricate replacement electrical components and materials
  • Perform advanced testing and troubleshooting using diagnostic instruments (multimeters, megohmmeters, ground testers, thermal imagers, etc.)
  • Oversee integration of electrical systems with other trades (plumbing, HVAC, IT, mechanical)
  • Ensure all work complies with the National Electrical Code (NEC), local building/electrical codes, and OSHA safety standards
  • Obtain required permits, coordinate inspections, and resolve issues with inspectors
  • Stay updated on code changes, industry standards, and emerging technologies (e.g., renewable energy, EV chargers, energy‑efficient systems)
Leadership and Supervision
  • Train, mentor, and oversee journeyman and apprentice electricians, if applicable
  • Delegate work effectively and ensure quality control on installations and repairs
  • Provide technical guidance and serve as the subject matter expert for complex problems
Project and Budget Management
  • Estimate labor, time, and material costs for proposals and bids
  • Manage budgets, track expenses, and optimize material usage to minimize waste
  • Maintain inventory of tools, parts, and equipment
  • Collaborate with project managers, vendors, clients, and subcontractors to keep projects on schedule and within budget
Documentation and Compliance
  • Maintain accurate records of permits, inspections, maintenance logs, and certifications
  • Prepare project documentation, reports, and client hand‑off materials
  • Document preventative maintenance measures and train clients or staff on implementation
Emergency and Client Support
  • Provide rapid response and assistance during electrical emergencies
  • Liaise professionally with clients, vendors, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure satisfaction
Education, Knowledge, Experience, Skills, and Abilities Required
  • Valid Maryland Master Electrician License (or jurisdictional equivalent)
  • Valid drivers license.
  • Certifications preferred: NFPA 70E Electrical Safety, OSHA 10/30, First Aid/CPR
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a licensed Master Electrician with demonstrated success managing large‑scale commercial/industrial projects
  • Excellent problem‑solving and critical‑thinking abilities under time pressure
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in fast‑paced environments
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English to interpret electrical codes, safety requirements, technical documents, and coordinate with clients, inspectors, and team members
Physical Requirements

Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly and up to 75 lbs. occasionally with assistance

Stand, walk, and move about job sites (up to 5 square miles) for extended periods (8 hours/day)

Climb ladders, scaffolding, and work from elevated platfor s, roofs, or rafters

Bend, kneel, crouch, and crawl in tight or awkward spaces

Use hands and arms for repetitive tasks such as wiring, fastening, and conduit work

Adequate vision to distinguish color‑coded wires, read schematics, and inspect fine components

Adequate hearing (with or without aids) to detect alarms, warning signa
