Metropolitan Market is seeking a Master Cheesemonger to lead the Cheese Department in product management, promotions, merchandising, and quality control. This role drives sales, margins, and labor efficiency while maintaining strict food safety standards and staff development.

The position oversees cheese, deli meats, olives, and antipasto offerings, training team members on product knowledge, storage, tasting, and pairings to enhance guest satisfaction and repeat business.

Qualifications

• Minimum four years experience in cheese product merchandising, production, sanitation, and sales.
• One year supervisory experience in a cheese service environment preferred.
• Proven ability to positively affect sales generation.
• Strong knowledge of food safety and HACCP/Department of Health guidelines.
• Excellent merchandising and display skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Strong leadership and guest service skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead cheese department product management, pricing, and promotions.
• Maintain product displays and inventory to maximize sales and freshness.
• Ensure food safety, sanitation, and HACCP compliance in all tasks.
• Train and mentor Cheese Department staff; conduct performance evaluations.
• Provide outstanding guest service and build customer loyalty.
