Job summary

UIC Construction is seeking a skilled carpenter to construct, erect, install, or repair wood structures and fixtures for buildings. Responsibilities include reading blueprints, cutting materials, and installing cabinets and trim at a construction site.

The role requires 10+ years of verifiable carpentry experience, a valid driver's license, and a strong commitment to safety. Candidates should be able to work independently and as part of a team on multiple tasks.

Qualifications

  • At least ten (10) years of verifiable carpentry experience in new construction.
  • Must possess and maintain current driver's license.
  • Ability to read and interpret blue prints, drawings and spec books.
  • Strong safety awareness and ability to work with little supervision.
  • Reliable transportation and own tools.

Responsibilities

  • Study blueprints to prepare layout and determine dimensions and materials.
  • Shape or cut materials to specified measurements using hand tools or machines.
  • Follow safety rules and maintain a safe, clean work environment.
  • Measure and mark cutting lines on materials.
  • Install structures or fixtures using hand or power tools.
  • Verify trueness of structures using plumb bob and level.
  • Build or repair cabinets, doors, frames, floors, or other wooden fixtures.
  • Assemble materials to form frameworks or props.
  • Remove damaged parts and repair or replace as needed.
  • Inspect woodwork to detect damage and ensure quality.
  • Operate basic construction equipment such as forklifts and man-lifts.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
