Job summary

UIC Construction is actively seeking a seasoned Carpenter to build, repair and install wood structures and fixtures on new construction projects. The role emphasizes reading blueprints, measuring precisely, and using hand and power tools in a fast-paced environment.

Candidates should have a minimum of ten years of verifiable carpentry experience, own reliable tools, and a valid driver's license. The work site is typically construction-based with safety as a priority.

Qualifications

• At least ten (10) years of verifiable experience in carpentry with a focus on new construction.
• Must possess and maintain current driver's license.
• Knowledge of general construction techniques and safe working practices.
• Must read and interpret blueprints, drawings and spec books.

Responsibilities

• Study specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials.
• Shape or cut materials to specified measurements using hand tools, machines, or power saws.
• Follow established safety rules and maintain a safe and clean environment.
• Measure and mark cutting lines on materials using ruler, pencil, chalk, and marking gauge.
• Install structures or fixtures using carpenters' hand or power tools.
• Verify trueness of structures using plumb bob and level.
